Since you just put it on ebay.. you should sell me your wheels for like 300 bucks (-: is that a 18-20 staggered set up of boss 338's? I am curious because I might buy those.

Its a street/strip truck though I havent raced it since 96. It didnt have a cage in it at the time and I was promptly told to load it back up after making an upper 10 pass. Im presently trying to make it safer so I can make another visit. A scott's IFS, fiberglass one piece clip, and a procharger are in the near future. Hopefully heading into the nines. I cant say I reconize the name.

Will is a young guy that used to play college and a little pro basketball. He played in Turkey and Mexico. His parents house is close to town and much newer and bigger than the ones around it. It's on one of the main roads real close to down town.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

My 70 longbed, fleetside is just about finished it's two year restoration. The front half was painted last week and the bed will be next. The front drums were changed to disc's a few weeks ago. The rear will be changed to a 3:42 posi unit. It still has it's original 350 engine with 195,000 miles, which hasn't been rebuilt. I bought it from a farmer in Winchester Virginia. He told me that it had "lived" in the area since it was new. I did a title search on it when I bought it and found out that it had 25 "farmer owners" !!!

My '68 GMC 1500

Hey guys, brand new to the site and thought I'd share some pics of my recently aquired '68 GMC 1500. I did a straight trade to a guy because his old lady wanted my '97 Lexus SC400. I think I made out to be honest. Anyway, always loved these trucks but could never afford one (a decent one) when I was in high school. I always drove the next generation trucks (73-87) when I was in high school, but I finally got the truck I always wanted. I plan on redoing the interior, it looks good in the pics but its an older job and I'm not a fan of the full length custom door panels. Also am going to add an A/C kit to her (any suggestions/opinions on the various kits out there and helpful hints when installing? ) and finally I want to convert her to disk brakes in the front (again, suggestions/opinions/hints, I will NOT be doing a big, high performance upgrade though, I just don't see the need. I will not be racing her). As for a couple smaller upgrades, I think I may add power windows to her with the fake window crank handles as the switches and convert the headlights to HIDs (it has already been converted to bulb style halogens, any suggestions on the HID kit, I know its possible to burn up the wiring with these and I certainly don't want to do that). A little more about her before I post the pics, I'm told the body job is about 4 years old and they did a REALLY good job. The rockers, rocker backings, and cab mounts have all been replaced, but very nicely. You can't make out the welds and in the rockers you can barely see where they cut and spliced it. They also took the time to rubber undercoat everything underneath once done. The floors were not replaced as it was not necessary, I believe due to the next couple facts. She was originally a Texas truck I am told and spent most of her life there. She also has just under 80,000 original miles. Documented on the title. The title also states that she was originally a V8 truck (probably a 327), I can decipher that from the VIN, but other than that and that it's a 2WD, 1/2 ton, I can't get much else; what can you guys make of this part of the VIN (serial number replaced with "Xs" of course ): CE10DPBXXXXX I'm told its engine is a 400 small block (hence the emblems) but yes I DO know these did not come with 400 small blocks and that the emblem refers to a big block 396 that was the stock big blocks in these I believe. Just happened to work out for the previous owner's choice of engine. I will try to get the numbers off the block to positively ID it. There is some debate about the transmission as well. It was originally an automatic and still is, but the guys at work (who are pretty versed in old vehicle parts even more so than myself) can't agree on if it's a 350 or 400 turbo. I'm not a transmission guru myself, so any pictures for pointers on how to indentify these easily would be appreciated as well. Finally, I have no idea if the rear end is still stock, but I do know she will spin the tires VERY easily if asked to (I found out accidentally when just trying to "goose" her a little ). Ok, without further rambling, here she is:

And my personal favorite :

Let me know what you guys think and sorry for the slow load time for those of you with slower connections!

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

This is my 1970 GMC stepside. Shes got some work needin done. .But for a 16 year old. id say im doin pretty well right now
The whiteish spots you see on the truck are rust repairs. The truck is actually an aftermarket green. the puke green of the interior is original im guessing. The mirrors are not stock, but they'll be thrown away soon. .you can see the rear bumper isnt a stepside. thats going to be converted to a roll pan. the girl.. should stay the same. The truck came with an original straight 6 cyl. that got changed out for a 350 with a mild RV. The trans is a three speed column shift. not sure whether or not i should keep this. as the column shift has a ton of bugs and quirks that need fixed. other than that shes a pretty straight truck. does a wicked burnout i must say.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

six862m6 Nice looking truck. I think you made a good trade.

If you look at the pan on the tranny and do a quick search a 350 and 400 pan look nothing alike.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

Nice truck NewAge1970! Looks to be in about the same condition as mine when I got her. The great thing about these trucks is that they make killer daily drivers because they're so easy to work on and maintain. If you're going for original as possible with the truck, i'd say keep the 3OTT. But if your looking for just a fun truck to drive everywhere, I don't see any problem switching to a floor shifter. PO did the same thing on mine. Should be a fun project!

I love the 3OTT but it gets annoying. i am more into daily driving with it but id like to have some power to get on it when needed. i just dont have the money or really the knowhow at this point to change it out on my own. im not really sure either if the trans is a side shift or the levers are on top. hopefully she'll go in for paint this winter. rims and tires next summer. then interior after that. she'll be a sweet ride for my senior year.
