Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Drove it to work after spending the last 6 months making it a short box. Woo Hoo! Alignment (Les Schwab) Friday and exhaust (Jeff @ Dan Fast) Saturday. OK I guess "I" didn't do that to it but I've done everything else!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Couple of days behind here, took it out for a drive Sunday afternoon had a hole in the radiator so had to stop and give it a drink a couple times. Monday afternoon swapped out the bad radiator for a good one from one of my parts trucks. I love working on these trucks, half an hour from drain to refill! It was such a nice evening, my wife and I washed it today, got all the mud and mold scrubbed off. That 70 GMC bumper I installed that had been stored since 1970 shined up so nice! I didn't think to take a pic, but all the colors look much nicer now! LOL

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Took steering wheel off and put new turn signal cancel on. Should have new black 3 spoke steering wheel here tomorrow, the Corvette style with Chevy bowtie horn button. Still waiting for seat from upholstery shop. Took red bowtie off front grill that th PO had painted red, striped the red paint off now have a chrome one.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Drove all over getting supplies for a friend. Go to leave and she won't start. horn works. Fuel pump comes on. Not even a click from the starter. Posting over on electrical to see what might be suspect. I'm guessing I burned a wire on the headers, but I guess maybe the starter switch could be the culprit.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Picked up a 4l80e trans. Why do people never drain old oil from engine or trans before pulling them? I used a cherry picker to get it out. This sucker is heavy.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I installed the bulkhead fitting for my air conditioning lines in the firewall tonight. Of course the Aeroquip fittings I bought won't thread onto the bulkhead fitting, something is wrong with the threads. I wonder how Vintage Air will handle this little problem.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Instead of assembling my brakes, I pulled it further apart... Fixed the bad helicoil... and figured out I need some new seals and probably lower kinkpin caps...

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Wait for the mail to turn up with my rebuilt power steering box , then promptly bolted it all back together ...time to bleed the system then I'm good to go ...another job out the way , next on the list is reinstall inner guards to keep the engine clean and shiny ....

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Washed it and went for a mini-cruise. Installed the transmission shifter indicator, but think I have the wrong one since it sticks above about the housing.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I found out last night I got the wrong plug wires from summit so i went to the parts store and got some MSD universals. That was the biggest pain in the ass until i discovered dish soap makes the boots slide much better.

Cleaned out the truck and took the bed off. Now time for the lines, wiring, and fuel tank.
