Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Got my new to me mirrors installed yesterday after Church! Grinding those old rusted bolts took a lot longer than I expected, I suppose the fact that the grinder needs a new blade had nothing to do with it.

They look like mirrors off of a Ford, but I have no idea what they actually come off of, a older guy that I met at the local trash dump gave them to me, he come over to talk to me about the old girl and he offered to give me a gas tank (that when I got it, realized it wouldn't work), while I was there, he took me down to his shop where he used to work on vehicles and told me anything I could find that I could use, I could have, we looked through a lot of stuff, and I found the old mirrors. I am very appreciative to him for them!

After about a year of working on and off again on my stepside I finally got her off jackstands and on some wheels. Still got some other things to do before she hits the road but Im getting closer.

While painting the bed my gun started messing up. I chose to pull it back off and repaint it today.

Finally replaced my front parking lamps/turn signals. Parking lamps haven't worked in many years, and the driver's side turn signal recently died. That lens has been broken for a long time, too. The sockets were totally shot in both lamps. Got new lamps from board vendor Classic Industries and couldn't be happier with them.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I picked up my rallys from the powder coater yesterday. I went with their wheel silver and cleaned up the center caps, rattle canned the bases bright silver and chrome polished the rest. Tires are ordered and I'm searching for nice trim rings. I need two inchers for the front and threes for the rear.

Got rid of the 20 year old exhaust system and swapped out the ram horns with some summit brand headers and some flow master 40s that dump right before the rear end.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Just got the entire truck built from scratch and running, got 100 miles on it and after some good financial things, changing out iron heads to aluminum, new intake to match, change to floor shifted auto, new dual electric radiator fans, full MSD ignition and finally taking out 3.07 non-posi gears and installing all new Eaton Posi, 3.42 gears. this will finish off 90% of the real wants for the truck. It truly is a never ending story....

I took my freshly powder coated rallys to Discount Tire and had them install new rubber. I went with 225/70 15 on the front and 275/60 15 on the rear. Went with Cooper Cobras, they were almost $300 cheaper than Goodrich TA's. I'm kind of liking the look without trim rings but I'm going to get them eventually.

I agree, it looks much more performance oriented without them.

In the words of the infamous C Downs, "You better get rid of that rubber fuel line or you'll burn her to the ground". LOL Seriously though I recommend running hard line from the fuel pump to the carb.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Bought some reclaimed wood and cut to fit. Now need to bolt it down. $150 worth of wood. Bought a bunch of new bolts at loews for $25. May sand and stain later down the road. Hasn't had a bed floor since I bought it in March. Should quiet down the turndowns some or echo louder.

Loaded up the oil and antifreeze I drained in 2013. County is doing a free old fluid collection tomorrow. I couldn't get rid of that antifreeze anywhere! No one would take it.

The old gasoline was easy to get rid of, just did a "free for hauling" ad and it was gone the day of printing.

Chip guard applied to the bottom of the cab. Now to prime it and spray some color.

While removing hurricane shutters, the mailman brought me some interior pieces created by Grumpy Old Man. They are gorgeous!

I drove the ramp truck loaded with my gas cart to our local truck club picnic!
I was happy it made the 3hr ride with no problems other than the radiator is leaking.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
