oh they were thinking about it haha.

I forgot a story, the crank open windshield is a GLORIOUS invention, what a breeze! I wondered why they got rid of it... until today! I was driving and watched a yellow jacket bounce right off the hood. It came in the open windshield and the airflow was such that he flew up and bounced off the wiper cowl inside, then he fell on my shirt! he was coming out of his daze when I pulled over and was waving his front legs at me when I got out and shook him off.

Very Very nice!! So cool when you can bring it back to a previous owner who had so many memories. Maybe they changed the window vent to the cowl vent on the AD trucks with the screen for that reason lol. Still, all the forward vents are the best invention ever.

its true I said when I bought this one it was for me, you have a great memory bill. my wife thinks I am nuts but I like the process too much to stop.

my next "keeper" is a big window 56 I tripped across. gonna need some seed money for it though...

Your bee/hornet story reminded me of a bee story: In my teen years growing up in Southeastern Idaho, a great way for teenagers to make money was "moving sprinkler pipe" for farmers in Idaho. A group of friends and I all road 90-100 cc bikes to and from to move pipe, 6 AM & again at 6 PM we would take old dry maintenance coveralls to change into after moving pipe cause you get soaked, going "commando" on the return trip. Coming back one warm summer evening one of our group pulled the zipper on his coveralls down and the wind bellowed his coveralls making him look like the "Micheline Man" all was going well until a bee hit dead center on his bare chest, and fell down and stung him on the tip of his manhood. He braked and drove off the asphalt, stopped dropped his bike and lowered the coveralls and began to remove the stinger. All the while cars were slowing to watch him dance holding his manhood in one hand and picking at the stinger with the other. We all laughed until we cried. Excepting LaMar. The next day it had swollen to the size of a tennis ball. Still brings a smile to my face. Didn't mean to hi-jack your thread. By the way STRONG WORK, can't wait for the next one, Hanna is it?

it drives like a modern truck, quiet (ish) and smooth. honestly its about as exciting as driving a carmry probably. although I wish it ran on thumbs up, because I would never have to buy gas

If you think your driving a car just look around at your hood and dash, give yourself a few smacks and crank open the front window. Then go for a longer drive and enjoy life!! So cool

haha of course I didnt mean it was actually like driving a camry. just that driving something old usually takes a lot of heightened attention and this is about as immersive as driving to the store in a modern car.

bill exhaust would probably help the perception but I tell ya, I havent found a good combo for a 4.3 yet that doesnt sound like someone burping in a tile mensroom. I think the one I am working on right now, I will try out my long thought and oft stated idea of a 2 inch split exhaust with glass packs. I think it will have a nice snap crackle

My 02 has a magnaflow (I believe the 14" length muffler for louder sound) cat-back on the 4.3. IT has a real good healthy sound and no droning on the inside. Sounds very nice from the outside. Almost like I got a mean truck

I have a 4.3 in my Jeep straight dual exhaust with 14" resonators. Sounds great.

I have driven it over 1000 miles, what can I say, I get bored easy. to me its almost always about the setting a goal and finishing it. I knew what this truck would look like when I bought it, nothing was a surprise. I thought I would keep it but then I got 3 more just like it.

when I finish the next one, you will see, these smaller goals were all part of a larger goal!

well fenix has a new owner. a guy came and drove it saturday and liked it, and we hammered out the details tonight. he will pick it up in a couple weeks, I have a couple to-dos but nothing serious

I was in my favorite chair, an oversized red affair that has my am radio and a table for my iced tea, in front of the picture windows looking out on the neighborhood, and spotted fenix in the autumn sun. I knew what this truck would look like before I turned a screw and except for the wheel color there it is.

we had a better view of the lake before the guy back there took down his iron fence and put up that 6ft privacy fence. funny thing, he did it for privacy for his ABOVE GROUND POOL, so when people are on the pool deck there they are anyway.

Do you have cab mount drawings that you would share? I'm building a 46 on S-10 chassis and photobucket has made it impossible to view pics. I have some drawings for AD cab but thought I would ask. Hope this is correct way to contact you, my first time to utilize

sorry, no drawings exist. these trucks were assembled pre WWII and production variance was up to 1/4" in every direction, that is a 1/2" tolerance, impossible to plan for. the only way I can explain it is that on the production line the cab was put down on the frame amd the bolt holes were hand drilled through the mount and the frame at the same time.

the best way I tell everyone to start is to mount the cab level 5 inches off the frame, then put the front clip on and see how the wheels line up. I build mounts for local guys and only on the predicate that I come over and help them set them up. instructions would be useless volumes of typing.

AD mounts will not help, the AD mounts go outside the framerails and the 41-46 mounts need to be inside the framerails.
