Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
LOL I know, but I know where the original ones are. This 68 is a very rare one. It is a Custom Cab, that was Custom ordered. It Came with engine 327/350 2 speed power-glide transmission, Power steering and breaks, flush mount gauges, as you can see short bed fleet side, steel bed floor, upgraded suspension (the F59 option) it is a factory posi, it had a 3:73 i think, in 1987 that was changed out to a 3.07:1 for gas mileage, It IS a 50th anniversary edition, (it is the wrong color now and the seat is trashed) One of the main issues is a wiring nightmare, the original windshield has never been replaced, of course it leaked, down the inner firewall the result is a fuse box that is full of rust. The 327 is gone, it has a 305 in it for now, I will be getting a correct 327 block and rebuilding that. Just a diamond in the rough that was found in a road side car lot and purchased for 1500.00 back in 1984.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
I believe you can tell why I want to get it back on the road so badly, a 327/350 will sound very nice with the Cyclone headers and the Flowmasters that are already on it, I am going to keep the HEI ignition and alternator on it, simply for reliability. That exhaust will also help with gas mileage, so will a few custom things I am going to do with the heads. I also plan to put a Gear Vendor overdrive on it for better fuel economy. I also plan to find one of the under the dash air conditioner systems for it.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
That's going to be a nicely optioned 68! Should sound beautiful with a nice rumble, and nothing beats a 68 50th anniversary, those are just cool. My dads truck wasn't originally a 50th anniversary but we are going to try to paint it like one and clone it from a real 50th..... I still don't know how I'm going to convince my dad to put an original steering wheel and CST horn cap in it.....

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
I will start a thread once I get things ready for the build, Right now I am working on my 70 year old mom's 1984 trans am. that is also going to be a fun project. it has all the optional power toys, none of the body/interior options. I am going to give the 305 HO a bit of a kick.

well guys i think i have a change in paint.... i think i want to go with a blak exterior and white top, with a red interior..... it will be just like the picture only i will have a black carpet, automatic trans, AC, vinyl covered door panels in red, and where the defrosters are will be a flat black.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Just read through your build Rick, Very nice. You guys are spoiled out there not having to deal with so much rust and that was a heck of a deal on the new cab you got. My favorite though is the little dude made of engine parts That and the trim on the side of your truck, I'm still waiting for you to mail it to me Keep it up and NEVER sell it ! Later

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
hey thanks dan! i actually have a list of people that now want the piston dudes, the girlfriend wants one her uncle wants one and a bunch of people at school wants one. yeah i got lucky with this cab, my dad really didnt want me to get it but i said screw that! im not gonna pass up a factory AC 67 small window cab for a 1/2ton.
today i made it just a little bit nicer. i went to my little parts pile and got a driver door out and cut the driverside speaker hole panel and with just 2 hours of continous little shaving an grinding and fitting i got it tacked in and the back all sanded and primered so tomorrow i will weld it in fully and prime. |
