Re: SPID Picture thread?

Here's an orange 71 Custom Camper 20 Longhorn with factory aux tank, which my sources tell me was offered late in the 71 model year beginning March or so.

Re: SPID Picture thread?

This is (was) my 72 C50 that I shortened to 127 wheelbase. Now sold.
I have a 67 C50 now to do the same thing, but the SPID is unreadable. :-(

My 71 C20 Cheyenne

Now that I have seen more of these SPIDs, would a Cheyenne always have a Cheyenne option listed?

Re: SPID Picture thread?

Yes, unless it was a 71, and they called it a Custom Sport Truck.

In 71 some plants still called out Custom Sport Truck instead of Cheyenne. Yours also has the Blue Vinyl Custom Trim seat which is the Cheyenne seat Cover.

Yes a factory Cheyenne will always have the Z84 RPO code. However early 71 trucks often used the earlier Custom Sport Truck as the description for Z84. The earlier Custom Sport Truck or CST became the Cheyenne in 71 as the trim levels went upscale. So the SPID posted is a true Cheyenne.

Wow. If I was going to get only one option I'm not sure that would be the one....

Re: SPID Picture thread?

IMHO, On a run of the mill driver, Zero, providing the vin tag and the title match. Now, on a high end, high optioned truck that someone's claiming to be original, that's another story. OBTW, you can get a new SPID that even an expert would be hard pressed to tell apart from an original SPID.

Re: SPID Picture thread?

Was just going to post that I found that! Cool.. still wish it had it though.. would love to know my trucks original story. It was bought by the Washington Forrest Service and a lot of work has been done and taken out of it... But I think it'd be cool to have one just for the sake of having it. Thanks Lee!

That one would have some special codes, I'd post a new thread and ask for assistance recreating the SPID. There's a lot of very knowledgeable folks here that can help.

Should have read this thread before I started another one.

From my '71 Cheyenne, Now I know Z84 means Cheyenne even when it says Custom Sport Truck.

Re: SPID Picture thread?

I know the font is not correct but I personally don't care. I just did it to have a sticker that reflected how my truck is currently optioned. Most people don't know anyway.
If anyone knows a closer font please post it. I used Excel to format the rows and columns.
I know I could have sent it away but I just like to do everything myself.
