Hello Martin & Rian, I've been following along on your C10 adventures. I too have purchased a 67-72 rear bumper for my 63. After reading about the quality issues you mention above, I checked the bumper that I purchased last week. Surprise, surprise... I have the same issue. My bumper was an "OER" brand, that I picked up at Summit Racing on my drive home from my vacation in Florida. Returning the bumper isn't really an option for me due to shipping cost from Canada, or I could drive it back, 5 hours each way. I like Ta2Don's idea of adding a bumper bolt to fill each hole. An easy fix.

The best way to deal with them would be solidarity in voting with your feet and wallet, but usually we do not do that. Still, after the rain there is sunshine....... Quality is ****e, and we will be painting the rears of the bumpers with Hammerite as well, as most seem to rust from behind first, so prevention etc.... However, this quality issue has allowed us to investigate and seek other solutions to the holes. One of them Martin found ( I think he is part Bloodhound ) is very small LED Spotlights that fit the holes with a neat ally nut/neck and even if you need to enlarge the holes by a few mm's it would be fine as it already is "damaged" there. Both of us have to reverse down the side of our homes to park up in our garages, as the properties here are often narrow, and in my case, it would take a 27 point turn to get the truck turned around at the garage, so having reversing lights makes a load of sense. In the UK we need to have separate turn signals, so my reverse lights have become turn signals, leaving the truck without adequate reversing lights for when I come home late from car shows etc. The bumper holes are too low to put turn signals into as well for safety as they would be out of sight. So the search goes on to find a perfect replacement or filler for the holes.

So with nothing planed for Sunday and the other half waking up with a cold . I know it's wrong to be pleased that your other half wants to stay in all day feeling unwell but, that ment truck time so off to the garage I went . After getting the panels from top banana via Arkansas (thanks Don ) . I started getting the kick panel done and fitted the panel Rian made for me
Before The panels from Don All fitted At last it's starting to go back together

Yes he is .I had to re make the centre section after getting the lower panels from Don . I did use the upper panel he made though it's good to have a friend that shares the same interest

Thanks Clem . I only want to do this once,so I try to do it correctly. It did hold me up waiting for the panels but I think it was worth the wait to get it right

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Well I got home from work and went straight to the garage. The first job was to cut down the repair panel so the join is under the rocker panel . That way no filler is required over the join
Once marked it was then cut to match the cut on the repair section Next was to offer up the repair section Once lined up it was out with the welder After welding it in place I offered up the rocker panel with no sign of a repair section fitted Job done

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
We'll I got a little bit more done this afternoon. After I got all the usual jobs done Saturday morning . I went into the garage and got the inner rocker and floor section welded in. Another step nearer if only a small one
Next step is to turn it back over hang the door and fit the outer rocker . Then start all over again on the other side

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Posting this for Rian and his mates... Rian's wife called them 4 of the 7 dwarfs...
This was taken just at the Swap Meet in Essex before the gates owned and the spending ensued... Rian will post more of the results later… Not sure of the order, but the pic includes, Rian, Kerry, Jim and Martin...

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
I was tempted not to post up these pics as requested, as Martin would rather search out all the Cherry Bargains than take photos........
Thanks to Don for posting up the early pic I texted through to him. Mate Martin, Disasterbus and Jim and I met up early today to go seek bargains for our vehcles. Spured on by all the bargains he got last year, including a door for his truck at £100.00, new front screen rubber for a tenner and a full new cab mount rubber kit for £35.00 we all had our skates on. And it was Martin who drew first blood with a lovely pair of old skool bullet shaped chrome lights, with interchangeable clear or red lenses. Through the day we all found real bargains and items we wanted or needed. Kerry, Disasterbus got a brand new full rear rollpan for his truck at £40.00, that he will probably bring over soon, to weld up and probably paint at my place. He also picked up a lovely old sideplate sized V8 hubcap for garage art. My bargain of the day was a pair of 2.5" used stainless tailpiece tips that took me an hour or more to clean up with metal polish. Not perfect, as I really wanted a set of square/rectangular Range Rover type tips. But at £10.00 for the pair, I had to have them. Here then are the pics, as they came off my mobile phone camera. I have also wanted a pair of bumper over riders as long as I have had the truck, this vendor was prepared to let me have these for £25.00 although they are Pre-60 items, and if I could make them fit, I would then have to get them chromed, so the voice of reasoning suggested I wait till I find a pair of chromed ones, so I walked away. Dead cool hearse, sounded rather nice and quietly menacing when it drove by later. I think I would like one of these....... At that price I ask myself, what did the seller pay for it and to land it here? TECHNOLOGY !! LOVE IT !! Martin Googling some pics to show Disasterbus what his Stepside would look like with a rear rollpan fitted. Of course that made the decision easy. 60-66 Chevy C10's seem to be suddenly picking up in presence and value. Good news for all owners I guess. Another C10. Read description. OHHHHH HOW I WANT ONE OF THESE. Never seen one of them before, no idea what they are called. Chevy Power in a Ford. Quite like these. This was just perfectly understated and clean. There were many more, and a few nice cars that I missed for various reasons. Again a great Swapmeet, meeting old mates and finding bits needed for builds. Just needed to be warmer.

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
We do get a good turn out at this meet. The American and hot rod seen in the UK is quite large . But it was definitely a lot warmer when I went to the NSRA swap meet and show in Tampa last October

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Well this is the my little haul . Not as good as last year but still ok . Like Rian I got at shirt (note to one self make sure not to wear it at the same time) Some small cutting discs, a set of Allen key sockets, and two circular hole cutters and best of all two small chrome lamps with interchangeable lenses White or red to fill I the holes in the rear bumper .
While at the show I got a text from an eBay seller. I had bid and won on a push bike £25 very cheep for a Marin 21 speed mountain bike . So after Rian had left my house myself and Amanda took a drive down to Dover to collect it So a good day had by all
