I was second guessing my self on the hoses, but I have 3/4 on the upper and 5/8 on the lower. If I do this again I am going to take the original down to the local radiator and a/c shop and have them refurb it. Seems like I might get a better product.

I would say that depends on if the original one you pulled is a GM part or a aftermarket part, if its a GM part then yeah get it rebuilt, if its an aftermarket part then just get another aftermarket part to replace it.

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"

Took my factory (Harrison) heater core to the radiator shop this morning, and they said I should order another new heater core, but from a different manufacturer. So, I will pick it up on my way home from work and see if Carquest can do any better...

On a positive note here is a pic from a little cruise we took a few weeks ago...

No Sir! It's worse, I never took a pic after you got there. I couldn't have gotten a good pic anyway with the crowd that gathered when you raised the hood!

Funny thing, I would rather have your truck than any of those other cars or trucks parked on that row of vehicles. Your truck looks great!

I am going to do my best, I have a long list of things I'd like to do. Many of them are small details that most people won't normally notice or care to fix. Stay tuned and I'll see if I can keep it interesting.

I agree. I often think about having a new camaro, but I wouldn't be happy. There are hundreds of them running around here, but just a few 67-72 C10s! Thanks for the compliment!

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"

Found the culprit... Filled heater-core and let it sit, and without any pressure water welled up at the base of the upper stand-pipe. New one (different manufacturer) will be here in the morning, so I'll try this one more time.

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"

Heater-core replaced, rear end cleaned and ready to be assembled with a new Eaton Posi and Richmond 3.73:1 gear, pretty good days work so far. Next, I need to pull the transmission crossmember a lower the mount pad a little. When I raised it a few weeks ago, I went too high and the transmission is touching the body. Live and learn...

Pic of the rear end ready to go!

Do you have a "high hump" trans cover?
