Re: 1969 Short Wide
Nice job! I wish that I had the patience it took to make that panhard mount, and that extension for the bar. I kinda get the job done, but it aint that pretty. I can't wait for you to stick some tins on that thing.
Keep up the good work! |

Re: 1969 Short Wide
It's looking great. Those lines loook nice but also looks like they could be a PITA to get installed due to their pre-bent nature.

Re: 1969 Short Wide
That's crazy. I'm sure they have a lot of unhappy phone calls come through their lines.

Re: 1969 Short Wide
I had a similar problem when installing my brake lines. They were for a '72 which is the hardware on the frame....but the frame itself is a '68. I wound up having to use an adapter here and there but got it all in. Couldn't use the m/c lines tho since I'm using an adjustable prop. valve.

Re: 1969 Short Wide
Okay finally got all the brake lines in and mounted (thanks Kyle for the Help). I also got a new tank (thanks again to Kyle (screaminchevypickup). I ended up going with a blazer conversion tank. I wanted to build my own but I moved on. Here are the pics sorry some are blurry:
Drilled the rear crossmember for the brake line 72 style Modified the bracket cut off the front: Made some gas tank flange straps to spread the load on the mounting bolts: Bolted to the xmember: Brake lines done finally: |

Re: 1969 Short Wide
Very nice piece.
Did you make it as one piece or two? We used to make some complex puzzles for desk ornaments in our machine shop that were done by freezing one part and heating the other then pressing them together. Once the two parts normalized in temp they would never come apart again.

I'm unsure of where I'm going to put the filler. I might run it over to the left inside of the bed or may just cap off this filler and add another that goes straight up? I haven't done much research on this yet. |

I considered an in bed or a behind the license plate fill point but If I am towing something or have a load in the bed it would make getting fuel a pain. I like the marker lamp fill point idea but don't have marker lights. Another one I like is the top of bed rail fill point with a boat or motor cycle pop up gas cap that sits flush with the top of the bed rail when closed. Behind the tail light is a cool idea but looks like a bunch of work. With the access to a machine shop you have this could be a nice one for you to tackle. You could make some nice hinged mounts for the tail light to sit in and really clean things up.

This is definetly one piece. There will be info coming up on this part. I have made a few puzzles in my time too. We do interference fits all the time where part a is heated and part b is frozen to -60. Slip together nice then they are there permenantly. Quote:
