Re: Daverods project 66

After 1 1/2 coil cut in the front. Put new brake pads on the front, going to do the rear today. Looking for some springs for the rear.

My water bill was 120 last month and mine still isn't that green. I guess my yard is bigger!

Re: Daverods project 66

I have 1 acre of land. There's no way I'm putting grass on it. I even sold my almost new lawn mower from when we lived in Vegas 4 years ago. I don't know what our water bill is, but I know it's ridiculously low.

I would'nt want your AC bill though. I thought it was legal to grow grass in Cal. Even heard there was $$$ in it. Maybe that was further north?

Re: Daverods project 66

I need to know where I can get a new cap for the end of my manual steering gear. I have an old gear box but I don't know how to get the cap off. The one on my truck is missing. I don't want to swap out the whole gear box if I can just get the cap off and put it on the one thats already on my truck. It kinda just looks like a freeze plug?

If it good enough for Joe then it's good enough for me. Thanks Joe I'm off to the parts store. 1 3/8 freeze plug worked good.

The electric bill isn't that bad either, and we also have a above ground pool. It cools off here in the evening. In Vegas that's another story. The electric bill there was $400.00 a month. It never cooled off.

Re: Daverods project 66

BTW I agree with the freeze plug. Here's a little tip. Put the freeze plug in with the cup facing out, and tap the center with a hammer. I said TAP, not HIT, like a small dent. That spreads the plug to seal it better.

To late. I'll do it that way when it falls out. It seemed to go in fairly well though. Any ideas on a temp sensor. Do most have only one wire? I can;t seem to find a replacement for the one I have. It has two wires and runs a red and green light.

I never seen one with 2 wires. Can you put 2 sensors in it?
One for the green light, and the other for the red one. Just a thought.????

Re: Daverods project 66

According to the wiring diagram for a 64 thats the way it comes from the factory. Two wires going to the sensor? I wonder if it would work with a sensor with one wire.

Re: Daverods project 66

I would assume it works kinda like a single pole dual throw switch, one wire is for your "cold" light and one wire is for your "hot" light.....you could put a single wire sensor for a dummy light and it would only light which ever light you hook it to when it reaches a certain temp or over heats

I have a single pole thats on my 283 from my 66. I'll pull it off today and see if I can get the red light working. That's the only one I really need anyways. Thanks Joe. I think I got the diagram from you too.

Going to hit 100 here today. Got to get all my work done by 10 so it can chill in my garage and work on my truck. Did I tell you my garage has AC. Not.

Re: Daverods project 66

I have a swamp cooler sitting behind the shop I'm trading labor for. I haven't had time to put it in. Now I wish I installed it when it was cooler out side. It's 100 plus here right now. But still not as bad as Phoenix AZ. My brother in law just got back from there and he said it was 118. It's Friday, and I'm quitting real early today. I'm the boss, so I can do that.
