Re: My new project 86 Silverado

Got a performance rebuild on my Quadrajet... built by Lars Grimsrud
Here are his notes on my carb...

"The carb checked out really well after a few setup modifications and after all the plugged fuel and air passages were chased down... I ran it through all modes of operation from cold-start, hot re-start, idle, and no-load cruise. I also tested for secondary operations and WOT transition. Idle is glass smooth, off-idle response is crisp, and mixtures are right where they should be - see photos attached of your carb running on the test engine with actual air/fuel ratio and idle rpm. I have the A/F set at 14.2:1, which is perfect for today's pump gas, and rpm is at 850 so it will idle with your cam. I have removed the rear pulloff (these are no longer available, and they were not used on the performance application carbs), and I have installed and tested the electric choke per your request - the choke operates perfectly, and was tested on the engine (note the choke wire hooked up in the photo)."

Here's a few pics...

yeah, that Chevy engine is a test engine used for tuning the carb... it's not the engine going in my truck...

My motor will be a 461 Pontiac built from a 400 block by Jim Lehart...

always good times to be had with your Dad! Glad your doing okay from the car wreck..

it's raining here so no updates, and mosquitos are killer so makes wanting to work on the truck a bit of a pain. Maybe I'll go pick up some paint and paint my bezel this weekend!

Re: My new project 86 Silverado

Just wondering, had not seen you on here for awhile.

My truck is the same ol story. Just now settling on paint color chips. So hopefully they will get it all trimmed in so I can take the frame out and put the cab and bed back on. Then going to bring it home to do the interior and drivetrain before taking it back out for final paint.

With the weather we have been having I am not rushing it. I have been trying to keep all of my trucks inside and if I bring this one home I am not sure if I will have enough room for all of them until nice weather comes back.

Re: My new project 86 Silverado

what a worthless piece of &%$#*@ razzle, frazzle

took an hour to do just this, compressor gets hot, cuts off... pressure lasts about 10min if that (200psi compressor)

i need one that will hold up to continuous DA sander use....

this sucks and i can't afford a new one...
