Not too much progress lately. I did get 4 yds of suede in and picked up a calf skin to redo the 99 c10 seat. Here's the frame ready to get cut down and repainted.

Chopped and welded up. Rattle bomb black on the inside and matching bomb brown like the rest of the interior on the outer areas. I am making side panels for the riser so my "robot" welds ( LOL ) wont be seen. Should be sitting slightly lower than the 1965 seat position. The new seat cushion ( 40,000 miles) was really firm and placed me about an inch taller in the cab. this will drop it about 1 1/2 and just like Little Red Riding Hood says " Just right"

I finally went to the docs and got some antibiotics, hopefully this is almost over. On the bright side, I think I am going to get a 1Ton tomorrow so I can cut the roof off of it for my truck.

I found lacquer thinner at work in small doses under the tongue is magic!

I haven't been working on the truck lately as I found something else to occupy my time. A 1980 Burro aka "El Culo" or the Ass. I've been cleaning, painting , detailing etc and am going to micro tile the counter and backsplash next with a polished and quilted pattern stainless rear wall. I needed something a little smaller than the 20 foot Avion to tow to Disneyland and back up the coast this spring with 4 other friends in classic trucks/cars and vintage trailers for our 2500 mile trip and this fit the bill.

About a month ago I had an engine fire/ harness melt down and rewired everything. I still don't have high beams, but wasn't too concearned. I also lost the coolant temp reading. As I was smelling smoke I could watch the coola nt needle jump around full swing obviously grounding or shorting out. I bought an extra cluster for the coolant gauge and the fuel gauge that I am still fighting ( 2 gauges, 2 sending units, still reads half...need to soldier an in tank sender ground next) and installed both gauges. Still no reading from the coolant gauge. Went back through my wiring and nothing stood out. Its cold here and I just didn't worry about it.

I'm sitting at the parts counter today and the little bastard that sits on my soulder always giving me guidance says " order a temp sender" and without ohm checking mine from a month ago, I get one $16 later. Back under the hood today and screw the old out and the new one in. Whalla! It works.

Moral of my story. Always check everything whithin the system from the fuse, fuse box, wiring, gauge and sender or switch. I must have wasted 3 hours throwing a gauge and rechicking wiring before giving up when I could have spent 5 min and tested the sender. Sometimes those voices in our heads really are correct.
