Thats what it is for. Most newer vehicles just hang a piece of rubber hose attached up high instead of the old little metal check valve style.

I asked this WAY back in high school autoshop. The explaination given to me then was that the air captured inside the rear end (and inside the engine) will expand and contract because of temperature differences. This would blow out seals and cause leaks if there wasn't a vent of some sort. Same principle as the radiator cap except that holds a predetermined amount of pressure before it allows bypass.

We finally got back to working on the truck. The goal for Friday and Saturday is to get the cab in primer. With a long day yesterday we got some of it done and we'll be back at it today to try to knock it out.

I'm not sure about coming down to the fall show. My wife and I are renovating the other side of the duplex and it's been 16-17 hour days for me the last few weeks. That's about the time we should finish and I can't see my wife going to Carlisle for the first weekend we're free

Your truck build looks awesome!!!!
Your pulley set up is the same one I used on my motor, there is no way that powdercoating or paint will ever look as good...I have not put my power steering pulley cover on yet , I had a hard time with the pump fitting on there had to do some grinding.

I question the belts that they spec'd for it though....they were a little short for the setup and Jarros44 will tell you that I was out here having a fit for a while trying to get them on. I think I'll try the new board vendor that does powdercoating to get the intake powdercoated close to the finish on the pullies.

I've got odd stuff like a set of powdercoated motor mounts, a center cross member, an adjustable panhard bar, a set of trailing arms, etc. I'll start cleaning house soon.

Yes, I did change the pump. One good thing about GM is that the bolt patterns are different on the two different pumps (the pulley pattern) so as hard as I tried I couldn't get the pulley onto the original one- then the light came on and I swapped pumps.

not going to be done today. Ran into an issue with a batch of hardener that was bad and lost a couple hours. The guys are going to sand what they have and etch everything that's done so it doesn't rust back up.

As I have gotten older my patience runs thin alot quicker than it did when I was young.
I left my manifold the way it came I thought about powder coating it but I decided against it.

Cab is looking great!

I like the sign in the windshield... too bad NOBODY is paying attention to it

That's one new "trick" I've learned for my next repaint. It's best to used gloves when doing bodywork.
