Nice work on the cab! sorry to hear about the rust. it seems you just can't beat it.....I would just do what you can to cut it out spray some rust conversion primer in there and go forward. May be another 40 years before you see it again? good work!

taking out the dash now would suck, maybe that would have been easier in the beginning though!
Hey, I touched my truck today. Put the neck on the intake for the radiator hose! painted it orange too! that's all I did though...

i know, i know!!! honestly i never noticed, which sucks! i think i am going to just cut out the lower passanger side out under the glovebox and 1/4 of the way down to just take out one peice instead of messing with the winsheild surround after fixing it. the only problm i see is having a hard time cutting the back brace or support cleanly to get it cleaned up nice after fixing the area behind it??????????? not sure yet but did nothing today to take a break and think, scary right?
that is cool any progress is better than none or take 10 steps back for everyone forward!

in reality it is not a big deal, just that every time i think i can move forward i have another months worth of repair. when in it should really only be 8hrs but with all of the other responsabilities, well you know.

was able to get some work dont tonight. wnet a head and cut the dahs to get to the rust behind it. i am glad i did cause it was really bad and just been a matter of time till a hole sprung up. i have gotten it cleaned and primed and the replacement patch made. i figured i would give it a chance to dry tonight cause i had used the rust converter inside and weld thru in the important spots. very glad i had taken care of it!

thanks mike, it is now rust free as far as i can possibly get it! it is done and i am so happy! now all i need is time! i went weeks with out any extra work and now i have had several people either ask for me to do something for them and a friend who is getting hammered with work for hershey foods. it is actually a really neat job making stainless steel carts to hold the chocalate models once filled with the goods.
was a little worried about the dash repair, were there was not much room for error but it came out great! welding the braces in the back were hard getting my fat head back in there and luckily i had a junky welding helmet that i cut the lens out since a helmet would not fit in there. for some reason i cant do the aim and close my eyes. i always weld everything other than the bullseye.

it is really sad, my wifes family back to your grandfather had worked there and here father had several of the original tin models and they were awesome! but as always death changes everything and she thinks the wicked step mother sold them for the almighty dollar instead of handing down a really neat family heirloom

i am glad it is done right and is rust free as far as i could make it! i had gottne the lower portion of the fire wall primed and have taken of monday and tuesday to get this thing done as far as i can! i will prime obviously first then do the seam sealer, not sure how much of a wait time there is for that but that is the only thing i can see slowing me down now.

Nice work! sorry to hear about the wicked step mother. I spent a few years in PA. I had a chance to go to Hershey park back in 85. It was an awesome place for a 15 year old!

we use to get park passes every year and go at night for ice cream and let the kids do some rides. we stopped doing that about 2 years ago, it is so commercial, expensive and packed! 2 years ago disney world parking was $2 cheaper than hershey park! milton hershey is rolling for sure!

not any more! it is now $50 for one admission, you can get some coupons at giant grocery but still a crock!
well made my make shift paint booth and got the cab cleaned and almost ready. i am going to wipe down once more tomorrow morning cause it was so hot and worried of about some sweat getting on that i might have missed. i am planning on getting up early to avoid the heat tomorrow. the booth is tight but should be ok with a little bit of fancy foot work??? we shall see how it comes out?

That booth looks pretty tight make sure you have enough room to get to the lower portions of the cab.
