Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
Thanks for posting the photos Devin!, still learning the ropes. Most of my experience in trucks is in the '63-'66 era, and this is one of the best non fire 80's I've seen. GVW is not much more than a heavy 60 series, but you get the 18.K rear axle and 7k or 9K front axle. There was a 23K rear and 11k front axle options but these axles were usually only spec'd on heavy duty tractors, which are almost impossible to find in the condition of this 80.

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
Just judging from the pics, that C80 is a peach. Even with shipping would be a great start for a well-optioned truck. It no doubt will need lots of maintenance to get roadworthy again, but you would be hard pressed to find a better starting point. I sure hope it goes to a good indoor home.

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
Engine should be bigger than a 305 in a 7500, if it still has the original.
Really should be a 401. Maybe even a 478.

They had me until I saw the cab-over. Seattle doesn't help either.

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
Worth it if only good for parts, but it could be very restorable.

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
Cool truck.
Sheet Metal looks great. Mostly likely a 409. Believe it has to be at least a 348. Full Instrumentation too. Looks like it has a Tach. Looks like nice Heavy Front Springs the way it is sitting like that, especially having that heavy engine in there. Would love to have it too, lol. Would make a great Roll Back.

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
I've tried on and off. He won't budge on the price and it's tough when you can't see them in person. If I've learned anything from Craigslist it's that everything looks much better in pictures than in person.
My attention right now is on this '64 GMC. Body looks solid but, again, the seller won't take the time to send photos of the passenger side of the truck. It's only 150 miles from me so I'm going to try to look at it in the next week or two.

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
Interesting truck, but it's not a '64.
I'm going to say that it's a '62. By the way, that '65 C-80 is worth every bit of what he is asking for it. If it were near by me, I'd be bringing it home for sure.

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
I was going by the sellers listing for the model year.
I agree that the C-80 is worth the asking price but (realistically) I still have to factor in $1700+ in transportation to get it here.

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
That's what I've been looking for. A back haul.
I also ran across this old girl. For sale is a rolling cab and chassis with 502 big-block engine, 5 speed transmission, and 3 speed auxiliary transmission. Engine runs great and truck is street legal. Call 831.423.5287 https://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/cto...356933195.html

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
Pretty cool truck.
Thanks for posting it. Strange that it is only a 5000 though. At first glance, I was sure it was a 6500. Mostly likely means that it is a 401 V-6, instead of a 478. Love the 5 X 3 Trans it has. My 6500 was just a 5 and 2-Speed Rear. The Differential Lock means both Rears are locked in and turning.

Here is a 53 GMC 2Ton that I spotted, it looks like it is in Iowa.

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
Good picture to see the comparison between the two.
I always wondered why GM made the narrow starting in '63, but I recently saw a factory advertisement on it saying that drivers prefer the better clearance. I always drove the wides out of co-incidence and clearances were never a problem. Never even had a thought that it could be one of the reasons why, lol.
