Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb
Glad to see you finally got yourself a truck. Let me know if you need anything for it. My truck used to be a GMC but I converted the front end to a chevy so I have a lot of GMC parts that I don't need. Good luck man

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb
Most exhausting truck purchase ever! I'm glas you got your gmc finally. Now seriously go get a job so you can buy parts. That thing will nickel and dime you to death. I put $10,000 into my truck without even blinking an eye and it still looks the same. Hahaha.
Post some more pics! We are all waiting to see it Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb
Option wise he did OK and it should be a good truck with a lot of work.

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb
Don't worry too much about the bed rust, .. its all typical of the trucks in our area. It can be fixed, no worries.
That's really a neat old truck! Did they give you all the trim pieces etc? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb
I will be going to a wood bed floor in my 72 SWB. I have a nice rust free SWB bed floor if you need one after you get it running.

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb
Where's the build thread?
I've got an extra set of wheel caps... My advice is don't buy anything shiny until you've got the big stuff taken care of. My buddy bought a 71 years ago, first thing he did was spent $200 on air cleaner stickers and new visors and some other stupid stuff, then his timing chain broke... So the truck sat for 6 months with cool stickers and new visors. If you'd use them PM me your address and I'll ship them over. |

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb
Last night I installed the new Battery and bought a new Starter.Next week the Transmission and everything is going in so hopefully it will be ready to be on the road.Still got to do some things with the side markers and fix the Brake lights. Then its to take the cowl off and clean, then take the bench and gas tank out to clean it out and paint it either red or Black..Friday will be the day I put on two new tires so it'll be Road worthy.Still have to fix the front right turn signal.Does anyone know where I can get a New Front Right turn signal Cover?....and the Deluxe side markers...I am having issues with the Right turn signal coming on at all..I may need to replace some fuses...although the back right light's connection is cut or not connected...I am pretty excited to get it going...I may install a light under the bench so I can easily look under there if things go missing or so..

Dave's Truck Parts in Claremont has ALL the parts for this truck. Used items are easy to locate in NC.
