Nice job! I wish that I had the patience it took to make that panhard mount, and that extension for the bar. I kinda get the job done, but it aint that pretty. I can't wait for you to stick some tins on that thing.

Keep up the good work!

Re: 1969 Short Wide

It's looking great. Those lines loook nice but also looks like they could be a PITA to get installed due to their pre-bent nature.

Thanks for the words. I have spent way too much time on this project. I am ready to start driving it. All I lack is finishing.

They are a major pain to install. But most of it is just because I have never done them. And I don't have any instructions showing where they lay or attach to the frame, axle or crossmember. When I called Inline they said "just look at where your old ones mounted" Hmm, that would be easy if I had a 72 frame with the lines but I'm converting a 67 frame to 72. If they were smart they would number all the lines and give detailed instructions.

That is pretty lame. You are right, for the money they charge the least they could do is tag them for location and orientation. Maybe a simple diagram too.

That's crazy. I'm sure they have a lot of unhappy phone calls come through their lines.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

I had a similar problem when installing my brake lines. They were for a '72 which is the hardware on the frame....but the frame itself is a '68. I wound up having to use an adapter here and there but got it all in. Couldn't use the m/c lines tho since I'm using an adjustable prop. valve.

Totally agree. Just a little instructions would have gone a long way with my feelings about the product. I won't be buying them on my next truck.....camaro Hmm? maybe

Re: 1969 Short Wide

Okay finally got all the brake lines in and mounted (thanks Kyle for the Help). I also got a new tank (thanks again to Kyle (screaminchevypickup). I ended up going with a blazer conversion tank. I wanted to build my own but I moved on. Here are the pics sorry some are blurry:
Drilled the rear crossmember for the brake line 72 style

Modified the bracket cut off the front:

Made some gas tank flange straps to spread the load on the mounting bolts:

Bolted to the xmember:

Brake lines done finally:

Very nice piece.

Did you make it as one piece or two?

We used to make some complex puzzles for desk ornaments in our machine shop that were done by freezing one part and heating the other then pressing them together. Once the two parts normalized in temp they would never come apart again.

Thanks Steve.
I'm unsure of where I'm going to put the filler. I might run it over to the left inside of the bed or may just cap off this filler and add another that goes straight up? I haven't done much research on this yet.

I have the filler neck & quarter panel support parts from a square body K5 Blazer I am going to use but instead of the square filler door from the K5 I am going to use an 88-98 truck round filler door assembly. I think the round fuel door won't look too out of place.

I considered an in bed or a behind the license plate fill point but If I am towing something or have a load in the bed it would make getting fuel a pain.

I like the marker lamp fill point idea but don't have marker lights.

Another one I like is the top of bed rail fill point with a boat or motor cycle pop up gas cap that sits flush with the top of the bed rail when closed.

Behind the tail light is a cool idea but looks like a bunch of work. With the access to a machine shop you have this could be a nice one for you to tackle. You could make some nice hinged mounts for the tail light to sit in and really clean things up.

Thanks,
This is definetly one piece. There will be info coming up on this part. I have made a few puzzles in my time too. We do interference fits all the time where part a is heated and part b is frozen to -60. Slip together nice then they are there permenantly.

I may do an in the bed filler. I just haven't done any research on this subject yet. This is my first one with a rear tank. I do have access to equipment to build just about anything. I have a hard time making up my mind on some of the smallest things. I am pretty much always bound by my "budget". I'm sure I will come up with something.

A nice one I just saw had the filler in the bed but higher up on the corner post where you could get at it with some stuff in the bed.
