Re: how about some pics of 60-66 long beds
Thanks! Took me awhile to decide on a colour scheme for the truck, but once I decided to do it up as a 60s British American Oil service station shop truck the colours all fell into place. This truck was originally all woodland green so not too big a change.

Re: how about some pics of 60-66 long beds
Thanks!
I've owned 5 GMCs now, all long bed fleets this is my first step side. I must admit, when I first bought it I was not too crazy about the step bed, I thought about changing it over to a fleet bed. However, when I researched the proper tailgate for this truck (original tailgate was missing) and saw that cool GMC logo (I think some call it the "flying M" logo) I was sold! That logo I my favorite of all GMC logos. |

I held out for a long bed. Now I just can't wait until I have it roadworthy for spring....

Re: how about some pics of 60-66 long beds
I remember seeing a couple of those 9 foot step sides back when they were new. They were orange and were part of some type of utility fleet. Memory tells me they were 3/4 or 1 ton having very large wheels.
I suppose it could have even been the same truck seen on different occasions. The 9' step bed was certainly unusual and unpopular. I never heard a kind word about their appearance, but they must have been practical for whoever owned them.

Time for a bump...
Bonehead says "A rusty long bed is still better than a mint short bed..." Ha! Ha! take that all you shorties!

With a long bed you get a WHOLE truck not just a shortened version.

Re: how about some pics of 60-66 long beds
Love your truck's combo of custom options and long stepper bed. Did it come that way from the factory or did you create it?
I might do that to mine if I could find a nice long stepper bed.

Re: how about some pics of 60-66 long beds
When I bought the truck it was very clean and looked to be stock. The cab was white and the bed was red with the red and white custom seat. So far I have only painted it. I would like to find out if there is a way to tell if it has been modified. Either way, long beds are cool!

Re: how about some pics of 60-66 long beds
Did Chevy Gmc make a 9' step side like Dodge or International back in the 60's?

Very cool! Found this photo on line of the same truck, Nice GMC, from London Ontario at one time from info I found on the net. Wonder if it's still around?
