Re: 68 C 10 stepside "My American Bulldog"

Thanks for all the support guys!
I can't wait until I get it all primered.
But first a little sand blasting
Just hope it cools down a little by Tuesday
It's been over 100F, With heat index of 110-120
100% humidity, Without hardy any rain

But on a brighter note, Next weekend, Planning a trip
to Summit racing with crob35

Great work Spike!! the build up from the frame with lots of pictures is inspiring, get me really wanting to get started on my 68 c10. Love the color you are going for too, the metallic sparkle with the rootbeer looks amazing and makes me thirsty for some reason. Keep up the great work!!

Thanks for the encouragement.

Here is a small update.
Had to do some repairs to the sand blaster,
Before finishing up cleaning my panels and such.
But got all of my bed metal ready now. All those nasty
little nooks and cranny's.
Here are the bed sides with there first coat of epoxy primer

Re: 68 C 10 stepside "My American Bulldog"

And on a side note, I've been using my friend Tom's little angle grinder.
And burnt that thing up completely. So it was off to Sears.
Picked up 2 angle grinders, And a butterfly impact.
" I swear it was calling my name"

Like I said, It's in the right direction, But a long way from painted
Next is 2 coats of b/u primer.
Block sanding.
Thin coat of filler to true up the body,
Block sand again,
Final primer,
Black base coat,
Gold pearl highlights,
Then 4 or 5 coats of Kandy rootbeer,
Then 4 or 5 coats of clear.

After all that, It should look like this.

Build looks great. Only had one question, I'm sure they are, but the hardware you used to flip your trailing arm brackets are grade 8 bolts and nuts right?

Yes, Of course!!!
I replaced the 12 hulk rivets, With 16 grade 8 bolts.
But for maximum bolt diameter, I used metric bolts.
So the rating is a 10.9.

This is the best I could clear it up for you.

Gonna look amazing, love the color choice and with this type of meticulous bodywork it's going to be immaculate

Re: 68 C 10 stepside "My American Bulldog"

Been playing with the bed today.
Got all the bed parts treated, Sealed, And epoxy primed.
Made a new frame, To set the bed on. And welded the stake
pocket shut.
My friends Chris, And Phil wanted to play also.

beauty!!! looking good, 69's are nice and all but not a 67-68, love the front ends, can't complain for the price though, so cool, I want a die cast like that, maybe you should slide it into the paint booth and match it up

Ok, It took 2 days.
-I overslept,
-The A/C went out,
-I needed to do laundry
-I wanted to stay home, And drink cold beer instead

Pick one or two

But here we go!

Welded up the stake pockets, And all gaps.
Etched the patches.
Applied several skim coats.
Block sanded 95% back off.
Then etched over the entire rail again.

After I finish all the body work on the bed.
I will glaze any pinholes.
Block sand
Then 2 coats of buildup primer.
Block sand again
Then final primer.

Spike
