lol , no mine is still in the box ! on the color, i think that will be to much black and gray, i think the engine needs to be colored ? just my opinion

My other thoughts were to incorporate some of the exterior color into the engine bay and engine itself. Blue block, black heads, blue intake, black pulleys? Or even aluminum, I would like to have some sorta shiny parts, not chrome though. I'm not really feeling any of the stock orange engine colors etc. I just don't want to make it look to corny as well.

i think the heads need to be the same color as the block unless they are aluminum

Thanks man, its been a pretty emotional ride so far, and unfortunately the money well is pretty much dry, winter is here, and a baby due in March, sooooo its going to slow WAYYYY down But we will kick it back into high gear come spring, hopefully the snow will bring me some more cars here at the shop to fix = more money!

Hey tax time is just around the corner. Hopefully Uncle Sam will be good to you so you are able to buy more parts. Just take half put to the side and tell the wife you are making an great investment at the shop with the money.

Just spent 1.5 hours reading through your thread front to back. Awesome work so far! It totally sucks you got shafted on your media blasting AND powder coating. It's stories like yours that make me lose sleep at night thinking about how I would explain a substantial overspend to my "financial advisor" (wife).
Regardless of the trials and tribulations- you have one of the dopest builds going on this site! Major props to ya'. Merry Christmas and I hope the new year brings you much prosperity and a beautiful and healthy baby. Congrats.

Been a while since my last update! Xmas is over , new years CHECK! Got a call back from the Machine Shop. Didn't get the news I wanted to hear. Engine has a spun main bearing, need to have the journals align bored and take the crank down a bit, not too terrible, but the cylinder walls also have some issues, tight at the top and the bottom, not so much in the center. He wants to bore it out and put new pistons in it. Trouble is that its already .30 over. He says we need to take it to .60 and everyone I talk to says that's scary.

Any ppl want to chime in on taking my 4 bolt large journal 327 to .60 ?? Other option is to find another block. but 4 bolt large journals are kinda hard to find, mine already has a forged crank too.

that is some bad news about your block. I would locate another block, for the money you spend trying to bore the mains I bet you could find another block. Plus if you have to bore the cylinders to .60 over that means new pistons as well. .60 over does not scare me, I have owned several small blocks that were .60 over.
keep that crank what ever you do! IIRC you put that crank in a normal 350 block and you still have a 327
Have you considered a crate motor?
or do you have something special in mind for the 1st gen chevy engine?
Have you thought about going to a LS? you can buy a low mileage vortec and overdrive tranny from a late model chevy truck and get 20 mpg with some very good horsepower, for less than 2k complete

Wow, long time no post!! Been a busy past few months, ****ty pay at work, new baby, and now spring Soo, time to start working on Home Grown again!

Still haven't decided what to do about the engine, I am looking now at either a GM crate 350/290 or this 327 from Tuff Dawg out of AZ, anyone have any experience with these guys?
