Gordon, Did the A/C compressor fit OK when you were done? I am using the DD mounts as well, and would llike to keep the OEM compressor. Also, where did you find the adapters for the A/C lines?

Yes, I redid all the brake lines but kept the hard lines along the rear axle for durability.

That's what it looked like; but I wanted to be sure. How much trimming was involved?

I trimmed at most half an inch...not that much and I just used a Dremel to fit it in.

And on the first day, God said "Let there be light!"
This isn't my first day, but it is the FIRST day I've had some positive progress in a while! Very thankful for that!!

Re: "The Ayatollah of Rusty Hole'a 1987 SWB 6.0 4L80E
Thanks guys.
I re-ran the harness under the dash & trimmed my PCM to fit back there on the heater box. I stuck some velcro on both surfaces too to hold it & trimmed the glove box to be able to close. It should work out!

Re: "The Ayatollah of Rusty Hole'a 1987 SWB 6.0 4L80E
Couple more things buttoned up tonight...
Got the ashtray in & wired for an aux power to charge my cell phone. Reran the LS harness coming in from the engine BEHIND the air ducts under the dash so there is enough room to put in the ducts. Tested the gauges finally to check my gauge wiring harness. Hopefully get more off the list done this weekend...

Re: "The Ayatollah of Rusty Hole'a 1987 SWB 6.0 4L80E
Thanks guys....if I had to do it over again I would probably keep my stock gauges with tach that I had and just fixed them up with new LEDs and clean it good. Maybe next time!
Today I got all the grounds done, as well as the ground straps to the chassis, cab, rad support. Will still need to do one for the box to the frame later. I also wired up the electric fans. One fan is controlled by the PCM & temp sensor, the other I decided to hook it up to a manual switch that is powered by the key. That way I can turn (or leave) it on all the time. I just don't know how much cooling these fans will do verses the heat of the motor mods and cam. So I will go with it like this and see for now.

Re: "The Ayatollah of Rusty Hole'a 1987 SWB 6.0 4L80E
Had a short in the switch today for the fans when I tested them again, so replaced the switch and installed the new one in the dash without problems.
Also installed the Lokar 1800 shift linkage....took a little time to get the angles right but I didn't need to trim any of the stell shaft in the end, just used the adjustment screws to position it correctly. Also replaced the tranny seal to the drive shaft & the tranny pan filter and seal...almost done my weekend to-do list & getting closer to a test fire!

Re: "The Ayatollah of Rusty Hole'a 1987 SWB 6.0 4L80E
Very nice. This is the first build thread I have read from start to current. Keep up the great work. I bought some seats and console from a salvage yard that were pulled from a Burb and they look exactly like yours. I thought mine were from a van cause of the dual arm rests on each seat, and a cut air line. Someone has welded brackets on them. You could set our seats side by side and you couldn't tell a difference. But I certainly know what you're talking about on making brackets to raise the front of them. Mine make me feel like I am going to slide right out of the seat. What were you seats out of?

Re: "The Ayatollah of Rusty Hole'a 1987 SWB 6.0 4L80E
Thanks guys, the seats are out of a Suburban.
I bought them off a guy here in the city that had a perfect '87 SWB that had a bench seat he was going to replace but never did. I should have bought his truck off him as he was considering selling it at the time...

Finished putting on the auxiliary transmission cooler today and ran all the lines.
I have a tranny cooler built into the rad as well but I want to keep the tranny fluid as cool as possible with a 4L80E.

Re: "The Ayatollah of Rusty Hole'a 1987 SWB 6.0 4L80E
I mounted the cooler on a piece of flat aluminum stock so I could but it on the cross brace so it would get some draft while driving.
There wasn't really any other place that seemed right to place it. One other thing to make note of, Summit AN fittings do not fit the Koul Tool.
