Re: faux-tina paint jobs
Lastly my 1991 short bed. All have original patina. I love that look and don't ever have to worry about rain or someone touching them. I have 3 show vehicles and the last four I have built or bought are full patina versions.

Re: faux-tina paint jobs
thanks chizzler! Had to fix a coolant leak at the water neck 2 days ago, but was able to go out for a short ride after. Hopefully soon i'll be doing a rear axle swap to 5 lug to match the front, new rear gears, POL trailing arm cross member and some motor work. It has a GM 350 crate motor and a 700R4 trans now, but has highway gears in the rear. Its fun to cruise around in, but lacks the power and rumble i miss. Some good looking trucks on here, any one on here from NJ?
@chuckmc8 LOVE your truck, that is my favorite body style. |

Re: faux-tina paint jobs
Apologize if this has been discussed already in this post. However, does anyone have any tips on how one would preserve the real patina on a truck? I.e..truck is lightly rusted, what can be used to preserve that look and prevent further rust?

Even then it only slows rust - the steel wants to go home to mommy. It just does it in a time frame humans can't see.

I'm not sure if he's trying to do Fauxtina, but either way, I think it looks really cool!

I think the way you did just a very discreet sand-through helps with making it look close to real.

Re: faux-tina paint jobs
I always wondered how it would work to use a sand blaster from a distance. Or to drag the panels across some sand.

I may have commented on this one before, but I believe the subtleness is the trick. I really like this one.
