Ok guys and gals I have a question and want your opinions. I saw this pic posted this morning and like the look of thin whites with the chrome trim rings. Do you think it will look good with my style center cap?

Re: Shawno72's long overdue 68 daily driver build thread

Ok kinda of a slow day at work so I put the truck on the lift and took some before pics with the manual trans so that I would have record of what used to be in there. You know this tranny has been in the truck since 1968 I'm sure and even though it grinds and makes noise in every gear except 4th a small part of me is gonna miss it...................NOT!!!!!! I hate that thing In all seriousness for for almost a year and a half that tranny has got me everywhere I needed to go.

I asked myself this question a few months back. I put a set of 17" Rallye's and thin whites on my Impala but wasn't sure if trim rings were needed or not. After putting them on, I decided not to bother with the rings. The white line kind of acts as a trim ring, in a visual kind of sense. I decided putting on rings would make the wheels look too busy.

Sounds silly but I like the look of just thin whites with caps. No rings.

On those wheels witht the slots you nailed it without the rings, imo. On the stock steelies I already had the thin whites and thought it was to much white, maybe a chrome trim ring to break up the white, as someone earlier mentioned, will help. I am just so undecided, I think I will ask my buddy Gilbert (sick5) to lend me his rings for a day or two and try them

I agree. But I say if possible, just keep a set of each (all black tire set, and a set with trim rims and whitewalls).

Never get bored that way

No trim ring.
Defeats the Copo/poverty cap look.

LOL!

Yup. But I start out low. Then go full up. Then lay down. Then ride dirty. Then ride hot rod. Then ride low low low. Then repeat. You love it.

I park laid flat out.
BTW,I know you are looking forward to your new transmission. I am looking forward to my new motor and 6 gears. I am hoping to see some nice mpgs too.
