Re: My long term 57 project
Here's the placement of the fittings under the wheel well. Will run the lines up along the top inner fender panel. It's a lot more work to do it this way!

Re: My long term 57 project
The AC fittings on the firewall, mounted vertically, are right in line with the doubler bracket for the hinge mounting nuts. The top fitting is a little tight to the innner fender panel, should have mounted it just a little further to the outside, but it will work fine as is.
Also finalized the position for the Gen IV unit. Tacked four carriage bolts to the flat panel on the back side. Need a few more fittings for the heater hoses and I'll have it wrapped up. Going to busy the next 2 weeks, so not sure when I'll get back on it!

Re: My long term 57 project
Did spend a little time cleaning up the factory control panel. The VA unit uses 3 sliders that replace the old cables. It makes for infinite contol of the fan, temp and door openings, should be nice!

Re: My long term 57 project
I got side tracked after a trip to Lowes. Been wanting to do this for a while but wasn't sure how I wanted it to look. Lowes had a display of pressure treaded boards with a variety of colors. After seeing the "Mahogany Flame" I knew it was the one!

Re: My long term 57 project
These 2 are for Dan in Pasadena! Will have to do some work to get it to sit level, so it will probably be left out for now.

Also, how about using a router to allow the stainless surround to sit down flush with the wood?

Re: My long term 57 project
No progress to report other than I did get the additional fittings I need to finish the install. But probably want get to work on it until after Christmas.
Yep, Dan, I think I'll have to get a router to make the trim piece fit flat with the boards, but I'll get to that later. And I'm not planning to put the metal strips in for now, thanks!!

Re: My long term 57 project
Just a little progress this week. Hope to get more done over the weekend!
Made a fitting for the AC hose to connect to the back of the 64 Caddy vent I put in the center of the dash. Just used a scrap piece of exhaust tubeing.

Re: My long term 57 project
X2 here as well, I started following this build even before I became a member.
Bed wood looks good, also great to see some good Aussie Cabot's making its way across the globe.

Re: My long term 57 project
I am running my hoses in the fender well too. Where did you mount the dryer? VA has two condensers for the TF trucks one mounts the dryer on the front of the rad support, the other on the inner fender. Another manf. mounts the dryer in the fender well.

Re: My long term 57 project
Made some progress this weekend. Finishing up the wiring on the Trinary switch. Used a few bullet type connectors and plenty of shrink tubing.
