Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

So when I was putting the carb on the other day I noticed one of my vacuum lines had came off from my HVH carb spacer. The one that I have a T in it that goes to the tranny and the vacuum ball on the firewall. Funny thing is truck ran fine with it unplugging. Got all that fixed. I use a carb spacer for that and brake booster. Run the pcv to the base of the carb so it will distribute to the intake runners evenly. I have grown tired of the stainless braided line. So ordered a new black anodized fuel log from BLP. Ordered Earls Performance Black braided pro lite 350 fuel line. Also got all of the black anodized fittings. A new fuel pressure reg and a new fuel pressure gauge. The pro lite braid gives the same features as regular stainless braid but it lighter and easier to work with. I will get pics when everything shows up.

Put the truck back on the dyno Friday. BLP had the carb dialed in dead nuts on. AFR is perfect. No adjustment needed. Plus and I love this it gained 30 more HP over last dyno pull. only things that changed was new headers and new carb. Worth every penny. I take it that the carb I had before was undersized for my motor. Now I am going to have to buy a new tranny I got my eye on 2 so that's probably what I will be doing this winter.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

I posed a couple pages back of my long tubes and how they would hit the ground when I would hit bumps or dips. I posted a pic also but I never posted a pic with my new headers. I have no worries now!

I really like this black braid line. I think I am just going to run it all the way back to the tank.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Well I had a brain fart with ordering all this stuff. I forgot the fuel pump I bought at the beginning of the year does not need a pressure regulator. It is a Cater 172 gph billet racing fuel pump. Wasted a $130 for a regulator. Well a few clicks of the buttons and Amazon will have it back. Lol always something.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Got the fuel fittings and the fuel line done from the pump to the carb. Looks damn good IMO. I will be replacing all the stainless line with the black braided from Earl's.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Well I am going to be eating some crow for some of the comments and posts I made above. Haha. I ordered a EFI kit for the truck. I tried to convince myself I would stay with a carb but I just can't. I have to leave the past in the past. I miss the capability of tuning it and data logging and tweaking things like I have on another truck. I like reading data logs and stuff like that. So with this efi kit it is capable of 1200 hp. So that will give me some play room.

Which one did you go with? I'm considering the same just so I can jump in and drive with no hassle. Details!!!

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

FiTech. They have 7 different efi setups. Starting at $995. So some of the stuff will be coming off my truck a new fuel tank a new sending unit a new billet racing fuel pump. Damn fuel pump cost me $275 lol. Some fuel line and an fittings. Got to figure out how to make room for all of that the wife is going to hit the roof with my junk as she calls it taking up room in the garage lmao.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Holley is also coming out with one identical to the FiTech. And the same price. It is the Holley Sniper EFI. But Holley does not have boost reference so I will need that in the future. Haha.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

The FItech will be interesting. Another member on here ordered one though I haven't seen any updates on the install. They have some cool features, one being the command center. Sounds like you aren't going that route with the tank and pump order.

I agree very interesting. Simple install and loaded with features. Yes command center is interesting but as you saw not going that route.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

I kinda see where you're going with this. Just snatch everything out and put a ls3/with a 6l80 so you can stop buying different setups and be happy lol
