Well I got my first weekend off in 5 months so I was able to finally get to the shop and see what was happening with the truck. We had to loosen the bolts and tweak the bed a little bit because it was sitting a little crooked. Need to order some more spacers for the bed to line it all up and install the fuel cap in the wood, clean it, and reseal it with some Thompsons. Luckily Doug and Mike have been getting work done on it even though I haven't. I got these pics today while Mike was painting most of the parts and talked me into painting the grill in SOM to match the body instead of painting it a metallic black. The biggest offset will be the chrome wheels and some black trim pieces including the front end's GMC lettering which I think will look just fine.

Yeah life definitely happened. I'm glad to finally see it moving along again. It was killing me that all that hard work was doing a backslide because of this wonderful Florida moisture. It's almost sealed up though, luckily.

Thanks Dennis! Man, I feel like the most useless guy in the world when it comes to that truck here lately. I've been slacking too much. I just keep looking at the stacks of polished wheels and tires in my shop and it reminds me that I need to get in gear so I can finally get them on there and see how it all looks.

Here's some good pics of the bumper, grille, tailgate, and cowl cover sitting in the sun after a few coats of paint and clear. Also got the steering column in on Sunday and figured out that the fuel fill will have to go through the right wheel tub which I'll get to at some point this week.
And here's a close up in the sun. And creep, I finally found that macro setting, so ya'll enjoy.

And here's a macro shot of that Horkey's Gas cap. Comes with a dogbone-style key but I have that stored away with the truck keys for safe keeping.

The latches aren't mounted up yet but that should also be done on this coming Sunday. So if I can get that up there, I'll definitely get you some pics. I know that my buddy has been playing with the latches a little bit here lately so he might even have them mounted up before I get out there. A test fit had them looking pretty good and you can actually set it up a couple of different ways but the best seems to be with the hook on the tailgate and the actual clasp mechanism on the stake pocket/support bar.

Well, the coming week is bringing plenty of real good news and a little bad news. I'm finally getting to take some vacation time and see some family that I never see. Also after my vacation, I will be coming home to a new shop here at the house that I can store the truck in and work on it in also. And lastly, the truck will be in the paint booth this weekend, the bad news, I won't be anywhere close to see it or take any pics for a week.
