yeah last thing you need is a deer to jump out infront the truck and take out the full front end.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
WOW! That truck is clean. I especially like the beauty rings with the caps. If it's a survivor and is original, I'd leave it that way. Just my .02.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Thanks guys...I just put the new skins on her - they were the widest I could get on the stock wheels...I should clairify what I meant by project...I just want to upgrade the handling/steering, fresh paint and maybe a slight lowering kit...thoughts and suggestions welcome and appreciated...
Mark also here is an interior shot...no cracks in the dash at all... |

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Truck looks really clean. I think just about anything you do to it will look good. Just really depends on what you really like about the truck. To me long beds never looked all that good lowered too much. Keep us updated.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
John,
I agree about not lowering it too much...I was thinking about 3 inches - although I saw a long bed the other day that had 5 inch all around and it looked pretty good! Thanks, Mark |

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Yeah the way that picture was taken and that huge lip on those rear wheels (now that I`ve been staring at it for the past 30 min hehehehe) its starting to look to me like a 24-20 setup. Either way....ONE SICK TRUCK. Love it! That truck is the reason why I went with a LWB instead of short.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Here is my '78 heavy half GMC
This is a very old pic, truck dosent look this good anymore. In this pic was 2.5" WC spindles, Shackle/hanger maxed out for 4". Rims are Pacer's 15x10 with 275/60 rear, 15x8 with a 255/60 front. Shortly after this, I blew the engine, it sat for three years, I chopped it in half to make a shortbed, built the engine and put a 700r4 in it. That was almost 6 yrs ago and I bet I havent put 30k miles on it....

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Had sometime today so I uploaded some, like I said it looks really bad now... Start of the SWB swap, the bed is just sitting in the correct position on the frame. Rear of the frame cut so the bed sits flat. Finished up the middle and today about 10 mins ago...

I like the fleet better as well. I got a ton more complements on it with the step though. At least one everytime I drove it. I just couldnt stand how the step was higher than the bottom of the cab, so it had to go.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Looks like the bumper off a towtruck. If I remember correctly they're beefy so you can push start vehicles.
