Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good Blazer...
Tough crowd Thanks for the 'motivation'...
Today I modified a set of Glock's Impala brackets so I can remove them without pulling the axles- I am pretty sure I will be doing some welding to these brackets to center the calipers on the rotors- and this rear is sealed full of fluids. I also prepped the rear that came out of the Blazer for a friend's project. It got the ECE saddles fully welded and a set of Glock's Camaro brackets installed. My buddy wants a parking brake on his truck- the Blazer will be emergency stopped by praying Last pic is the carnage left after making a few good rears. Anyone need 6-lug axles? I have both long(late '70) and short('63-early '70) versions, two good open carriers, one w/3.73s, and a set of the HD 2 3/4" wide drum backing plates. Free to a good home- come an' get 'em or pay shipping, otherwise they're scrap to me...

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good Blazer...
They are from mid-eighties Buicks. There should be about a million of 'em in your local pick-a-part...

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good Blazer...
Got a little done on the ol' girl:
Since the new rear is 1.5" narrower, I had to trim the floor for tire clearance. I brought it in an inch- that was as far as I could go and still leave enough room for the rear seat between the tubs. I got all of the extra PO's hitch BS removed and scrapped the last remnants of the 4wd parts. I also welded in a piece of 1/4" 2x2 square tube as a bridge. Once that was done, the rear frame section got a good cleaning and painting and the rear suspension was reassembled. Check out how the panhard is parallel to the ground at ride height.

I now have some much needed tire/fender clearance, and as a bonus, it looks a lot better with the dropmember's narrowed front track width. Next project is rear shocks and new body mounts...

Gringoloco,... what are you using for a gas tank?
Stock or some type of fuel cell.
