The door panels themselves were pretty scratched and faded and chalky. We washed them with warm soapy water and scrubbed them up with a gray scratch pad, dried them off and shot the color out of a gravity gun. I don't know about durability yet, but it the past have used this paint with good success. I do know they are still pretty brittle on the edges, but we are short on funds for now and the paint was 24.00 per pint.

Well, at $24 a pint, you can always touch them up later if needed since I'm sure you have plenty left. They look great!

I know painted they make the woodgrain inserts look much better. We are in the home stretch now. Just need some real nice lower mouldings to help finish it off.

OH YES... He is after me already. I told him I want to see it together (at least all the important stuff working and assembled) So he can drive it safely. We will install a spray in bedliner later, carpet, headliner, glovebox door, heat diverter....etc. Then we will do small drives to check the operation of all the mechanicals..He is being prety patient.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Restoration

And we did build it to drive it.....period. It ain't perfect..nothing is. But it will represent a lot of hard work and he will have a lifetime of experience to go along with it...

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Restoration

I was lucky enough to see the truck and it is OUTSTANDING!! The workmanship was stunning. The build thread photos do not do this truck justice. Steve and his son have done virtually everything and the result is first-class. I can't wait to see it on the road!!!

Nice Work!!!

Thanks... She drove great on the first few trips... the power steering didn't get to working though.... so after 2 weeks we installed a new pump today. WOW what a difference. We haven't had any problems at all (other than the power steering pump).. but I made sure we checked and double checked EVERYTHING before we took it out of the shop. Jon I'm sure didn't like having to wait longer, but it was all worth the wait. Driving around looking across that hood though sure is SWEET !!!! Nothing like seeing everything reflected in the paint on the hood.
