Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

WOW! That looks great man. This has convinced me to use that chassis paint. So did you end up using 2 whole quarts? Did you just brush it on? Good job.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

Used one quart. I am not as happy with the results as the last time because I used a cheap brush and you can see more of the brush marks. But it is already as hard as a rock and I figure I can spray it later to give it a nicer look if I want. I think it'll be just fine for a driver. Thanks for all the nice words fellas.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

Thanks guys, been a busy and long day so I'm not sure if the drivetrain will go back in tonight or not but by tomorrow at the latest. Still debating running one tank or not. What do you guys think. If I had the wiring for a 87 from the firewall back it would sure be alot easier.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

i'd keep the duel tanks buddy... that way when you get to a half tank just switch it over so your not worring about not having the '87's baffles. and think about the gas tank door needing filled and the tank switch on the dash too. just my couple pennies

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

I'm not worried about the baffles. I have two new 87 tanks, two new 87 senders with new high pressure pumps, new high press. switching valve, etc. My only concern was how to wire the pumps to switch on and off with the position of the switching valve and only use one fuel pump relay. I guess I just need to find someone parting out a 87 that had dual tanks and get the wiring. Well, off to post in the classifides.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

The little man decided he wanted to work on "daddy's" truck so as any good father would say, heck yeah, so the engine and trans are now back in the chassis permanantly. The tanks are next with the wiring for the fuel system and then the cab goes back home for good!

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

It's a simple piece of 2x2 square tubing 1/4 wall thickness. Definately not going anywhere! Very simple and cost effective too!

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

Looks great! It looks like your boy has square body fever too. Hey, what kind of tires are you running? I need a new set for my TBSS and I like the tread pattern on those.

Thanks, I'll see if I can get those at work tomorrow. What size are you running on your 86? I may need some for it too.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

Jeramy, I am running 295/40r20 on the rear and 255/40r20 in the front. Jonboy, I am running 3.42 gears for now but I am thinking I would like to find a rear already set up with 3.73 gears instead.
