Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
I looked at the ls1tech and it seems that that is a old shcool style plug. The plug number on yours you gave me came up a a iridium plug. I realy want to keep it close to orig. But not spend 10 a plug. With the MSD box i dont know if it matters but my dad used 8 different plug sets in his 4.8 and they were almost all old school plugs and they all ran like crap. His truck just has headers and a programer on it then.

I sneeezed chevy orange. I blew my nose and the towle was you gessed it chevy orange... I guess i may have needed to use a mask.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Got me a set of plugs tonight. Dang little buggers are pricy. Autolight XP Iridium. The XP stands for Xtream Performance. I guess to all other auto makers chevys are all Xtream performacne vehicles. I guess we will see how Xtream performance they are when i fire this sucker up.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
New Plugs brings me to my next question. I only have 4 spark plug wires so i need to get a new set. I have been looking a wires on line and have found no good answer to what ones i need to get. One site says camaro wires will fit the next one says they will not fit my lq4. And what brand should i get. Do i need any kind of boot protector cause of my headers?

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
My headers can use the OEM wire/boots. I would stick with a set of wires for a '99up LSx truck (same yr as your motor). Like I said before...the truck coils are different then the car coils...cant say why...just are.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
I have seen the diff in coils. If you look on autozone and look up one from a 01 camaro and one from a 03 truck the diff is clear. Where the spark plug wire connects is in totally diff position. GMPP has a set of wires that says ls style motors but cant find any thing that says they will work on a truck. I guess i will just get the msd set for a truck.

Love the Chevy Orange paint!
I painted my Project Willys engine that color too when I rebuilt it.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Going to paint the alt, water pump, then install them and hope my pushrods get in by that time so i can do fianl assembly. YAY. Also got balancer install.......and dipstick tube removed. Boy i never what to do that again. It almost did not happen. All 8 holes still have good cross hatching and are not too shiny. Only need wires, adapters for sensors, map sensor, hoses, belt, and i am sure i will find something else. About 200 bucks more wich is good cause it is that time of year again.......xmas time=short on money.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Thanks i seemed to have jacked up the block paint job but i dont think any one will look past the shiny headers to see it. And they really better not be under it. Front looks good tho. Guess that is all that matters.

No kidding. I thought the parts guy was pulling my leg when he told me I had to run that type of plug and how much they cost.
