Looks good, close to the original color of my truck. And I think you need more drills to work on the roll pan >8^))

I was that way with grinders this week end. One for cutting, one for rough finishing and one for finer work. Plus tripping over the welding cables and cords...

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build

We're keeping the dash stock. I wasn't sure what to do with all the push/pull knobs. I found a use for one. I made a exhaust cutout that will work with one of the many on the dash.
I've used the Mr. Gasket and the Jegs version in the past and have never really liked them. They rust, leak and stick. I used a Mustang throttle body on a home made y pipe. Cost was zero, I had everything lay'n around.

I cut out a plate to cover the Tbody ports.

I drilled a hole in the arm and attached my pull cable.

Here's the finished cutout. It wont rust or stick. It's spring loaded and will return to the closed position. I'm sure it could be duplicated for under 30 bucks. I'm going to run a 2-3 foot extention with a turn down on the cutout end to keep gases out of the cab. It's not pretty but it works...haha

That is sweet and cheap too compared to the ones that you can buy.

I'm going to be build/patching the drivers floor and both kick panels in a few days. What are your thoughts about using spray foam inside the kick panels once there painted? I'm going to delete the vents and build speaker buckets out of the 10g plate. I'm thinking it would prevent rust and deaden the sound.
After you welding in this plate did you cut the original firewall out?

No, I cut out a lot of the curved tin. The flat stuff I welded to the 10g plate.

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build

Ogre, Thanks for the reminder. Shortly after I took the pics of the gauge cluster. I put it up in the attic and forgot about it.

As far as the faux patina. I just mixed a bunch of Black, reds, browns, orange, yellows and tried my best to make it look like my wife wanted. I know it going to be another "faux patina truck". Please don't hate me to much. I promise not to add anything to the doors as a shop truck.

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build

I think the truck looks great. There is nothing wrong with faux tina whats so ever. I mean it makes the truck more unique. as opposed to one solid blue color that everyone can paint, I like what you got goin on. Door logos are another preference thing. I personally like them. The truck is going to look great.

sgtusmc, I think the faux patina looks great. At least that way you do not need to be as worried if you get a stone chip on some mega dollar paint job. I like the look. Keep up the great work.

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build

Thanks man, I'm sure It'll look a little better once it's wetsanded. Just FYI it is a mega dollar paint job. I think there's about 110 big ones into just the paint...hahaha I did get a bunch of it for free from my Uncle though! If your reading this Uncle, I owe you some beer.
