About Time!!!! Glad you won the battle. Everytime I look at your truck I try to picture what your wheels would look like on mine, I really like them.

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread

Just yank the tranny yourself. It's not hard. Heck I pulled the 4 speed out of my Chevelle in the parking lot of a Waffle House in Myrtle Beach many moons ago.

Pull the tranny, it's just a Turbo 350. Then ask around at the car shows for a TRUSTED tranny guy. You've got a six, not a big block or stroker motor, so you don't need a monster build up on your tranny.

I wouldn't pay more than $300 for a rebuild (order your own new torque converter, well worth the insurance) with me carrying it in.

Heck you can buy a rebuilt TH350 (built for a lot more power than a 250 has) for $550 exchange.

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread

Thanks guys. Not sure if I want it THAT low though. Just personal preferance. That was kinda the idea behind it to see if i like it. I think I like the raked look too. But I do want it lower than stock. I think I may go with stock springs in rear with 2" drop blocks and stock springs in front with the 2 1/2" drop spindles.

Thanks ctandc! Good info. Yeah I got a reputable tranny person here local always do good work. I'm thinking of doing like you're saying and pull the tranny myself have it rebuilt by them and order me a good torque converter from summit racing or jegs.

71Sleeper I found these wheels just randomly on Ebay and just HAD to buy 'em! SO glad I did!

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread

How do you like the round mirrors? I was debating between the round ones or the 5"x7" mirrors... I will be pulling a trailer now and then so do the round ones give enough coverage on both sides?

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread

The round mirrors give me plenty of coverage, but I got used to them. Plus I like the way they look better. Guess it would depend on how often you tow and what kind of trailer it is. An open utility type would be fine. Large tandem or enclosed trailer I would go with the rectangle mirrors with blindspot add ons. My two cents.
Thanks Crazy Dave!

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread

Get ya some blocks from way2low I did and was happy. I went with blocks/cut springs for a 2/2 drop and im happy. But if I ever go lower in the front I'll go with some drop spindles but there so $$$

Glad to see you got it finished lol

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread

CrazyDave its called the Gateway Special Olypics 10th Annual Car, Truck, Tractor, & Show. It's in Dowtown Mount Sterling August 18th. Registration 9 am to 1pm. Hope you can make it. Heck hope I can make it, gotta get my tranny lined out too! It's for a good cause though. I hope you and anyone else who'd like to bring their trucks out can come!

Thanks John. Gonna have to tear back into it anyway. Stock springs in rear (maybe blocks like u did) and new balljoint and tierod ends. Guess I at least got an idea what it looks like.

Heck yeah! I love seeing another build that started out as a truck so similar to mine! I think my build right now is going about as fast as yours is being on clinical right now and spend almost 3 hours a day commuting!

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread

Thanks guys! We went on vacation today. Taking her niece and nephew to Holiday World in Indiana. On our way to our hotel we passed a car show and decided to stop by. The were all like cool, I like this one, and I wanna go to a car show with you! I was touched. And after talking to a guy with a nice all original 49 chevy with the 230 in it. Well that definately got my juices a goin and am totally stoked to get my truck ready for the show in August. Gotta pull that tranny and get her runnin' again.

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread

Alright First up is you can see all the mess in the seat and tools and parts EVERYWHERE!!!

Then I decided that since I redid my gauges and they looked so nice I should clean up my steering column. Plus the dark olive paint spot was killin me. Apparently this column well is definately out of another truck.

Also polished up some of my chrome interior peices. And painted up my review mirror bracket.

Next on the ordering list will be a bowtie rearview mirror, billet steering column dress up kit (turn signal lever, emergency flasher knob, maybe a shift lever), and definately a new column upper bearing.
