Re: No Limit's "K-10"

OK, now I get it. This is a project we're involved in, but is not the one in our shop (K10) being built with Truckin magazine. This is being built by Marcel Venable of HardCore Performance on one of our Pro-Tech C-10 chassis. While our K10 project is a full on 'one-off' custom build, this will be an 'off-the-shelf' build. HardCore is also helping with another StreetTrucks build in a more 'driveway' style build, featuring our new front and rear C-10 bolt-ons, and a long-to-short conversion. The three trucks together will be a great visual example of three builds on three budgets, and the performance of each.

OK here is an update from the cornfield started the best part, going back together this is a 3/4 shot inside cab pretty much done exept for control panel and that mounts from dash bar to front of shifter mount back half done less hubs brakes have to finish front sway bar a little crylon paint and lets go racing. Rob I'm glad your doing yours from scratch this shows everybody 2 diffrent approaches to the same goal I used one of No Limit's wide ride front cross members and No Limit's trailing arm's should have it on a set of scales by the weekend can't wait to compare the 2 builds. doors and Lexan tonight.

Re: No Limit's "K-10"

Finally got the rack today. This is Flaming Rivers new Road-Race rack. It has a bigger shaft, and quicker ration. 6 1/4" total throw. Looks pretty good. I cut out a mount plate and some slider plates for adjustment.

Re: No Limit's "K-10"

OK, so because I'm not using the mounting blocks in the normal way, the didn't fit. - No, I did'nt call F.R. and cry, I just layed out a solution and got to work. Just a .125" notch will do the trick. This is still hot-rodding after all. With the notch cut, the mount block fits nice, with no clearance issues.

Re: No Limit's "K-10"

Boy am I glad I didn't thow out this plate. This was the set=up toll for the mill table to index the wheel centers. Now, it will be the set up plate for the front suspension. With the rack and ends in place, and some adjusting we got the rack hieght set on the money. I doubt we will ever feel the .038" of bump steer in 6" of travel. You may notice that the rack is pretty high, this would be tough on a stock chassis truck, but here the motor is completely behind the rack. The high mount allows a longer lower arm, with great geometry. The spindle was made to have the TRE mount to the top of the steering arm, which has more clearance for large neg. offset wheels.

Re: No Limit's "K-10"

It's close quarters, but everything fits nice. I think the steering will be simple, with only two U-Joints. Now it's time to finalize the mount and weld it up. Next up, front swaybar.

This truck will go faster with square wheels than most trucks with round ones.
Just my take on things.

There is no thread, Rob asked me to post some shots of what we were doing with our C-10 here, besides what we are doing doesn't deserve a thread.

Re: No Limit's "K-10"

oh your too kind, and well there is always ground hog hunting. Your rack mount looks good (hell the whole chassie looks good). I noticed that big hole in the console is that for the touch screen gps? want you to be able to find your way to the race track after you get done at the show car side. lol

Re: No Limit's "K-10"

Making good progress. With the rack in place, I was able to fit in the sway bar and arms. Then check everything for clearanceat full turn, and full travel. The spring is a 150, just for mock-up. We will start with a 375 spring in front, I know, it sounds light, but we're on a new path here.

Re: No Limit's "K-10"

From the front you can see that there is good clearance all around. The rest of the evening I spent working on the rear suspension, and some sheet metal. bit by bit.

Just a dzuz-in dash panel. but a gps would be good. When I first won at GoodGuys, it took a bit to find and figue out the whole winners circle thing, GPS could have helped. If you manage to win one of these things, like at some event I can't attend, just give me a call and I'll walk you through the winners circle deal.
