Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
I know right! I wish I had more for you guys but we are still waiting on wheels. The good news is that the 65 is sold and off to Belgium for a new life over there. Hopefully something new on Gumby soon, but as of yet, nothing to report...

Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
WOW its been a long time since I updated... Sorry guys. Lots of things have gone on in the last few weeks. First off Gumby is waiting for wheels which are done this week finally! These are the all new Intro built Delmo specials. A true billet multi piece wheel. These are worth the wait. I will have pics of them on the truck next week. I will be making a trip up to Delmos to get some progress shots.
The 65 left to its new home in Belgium last week. It was a great truck and I know the new owner will enjoy it. The 65 will be getting a full Porterbuilt chassis with Accuair, 20 and 22 inch wheels and some great upgrades! Im putting that chassis together right now for the owner and should have it ready to ship next month. I will get some photos of it after its back from powdercoat. Lastly, I picked up a really killer 71 C10 last week. Its original paint shortbed Fleet side in white. I can't recall ever seeing an original all white short bed fleet side truck. Most were long beds. It has no rust! Its the most solid C10 I have ever seen, no sag in the doors, just a solid clunk clunk when you one finger shut the doors. Very cool. Its a blue interior truck which is rare. Most were black. I have the original title, dealer info and some other cool paperwork. Mileage is 41K!! Yes 41,000 Everything is nice and tight which adds credibility to the low mileage number. I am working on the truck right now, dialing in the suspension, wheels and tires, and some interior bits but here is a teaser for you guys... I will take some finished overalls of it this weekend. Im really stunned at how original and nice this truck is. Even Truckmanloco was shocked when he saw it last week which made me feel good since he has seen it all when it comes to C10's. I have been cruising it around and loving every minute of it so far while I wait for Gumby to get done. So thats the update so far, with more to come soon. Stay tuned guys!

NOT FAIR!!! We need more pics of the 71! Tailgate isn't enough! I'm also looking forward to seeing updates on Gumby! It's been too long. I know you've got to be excited to see where it's at.

Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
Thanks guys! It was a lot in just one post I know. I have spent the last 2 months working on a TV show for Discovery channel that start airing in Jan. Its a new show about building custom cars so that ate up a ton of my time. I can't give details yet but when I can, I will and you guys can tune in. As for the 71, Im calling it the Ghost and I know, I know, you want photos... Just wait, I want to finish the clean up and detail before I post a current overall shot. I promise, its worth the wait! I am so amazed with how clean this truck is. By the way, thats the original dealer decal on the tailgate in the photo I posted... Yeh, first time I have seen that survive....

Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
Thanks guys, I will keep you updated on the show so you can all watch it. As for the Ghost my white 71 C10, here are some pics of it in all its glory. I am not quite done with it, but its polished now, lowered, wheels, brakes and its a great driver. What do you guys think?
Hopefully someone out there can help me... I need an original paint white drivers front fender!!! One without trim holes. Anyone have one, or know where one is? PM me with info, shipping is not a problem. Thanks guys, more to come soon!

Nice, nice. Give details of how much you lowered it and what company you used. What size are tires? Anyone replaced TH350 with 200R4?

Check in with teeitup. He's the main original parts seller on the board.

Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
Thanks guys, glad you like the truck. As for the drop its the same set up as Gumby had when it was static. A mix of CPP and ECE parts. 2.5 drop spindles up front, 3 inch springs and out back its a 6 inch spring, 1.5 block, trac bar kit and C notch. Tires are 215/70's up front and 275/60's out back. It rakes the truck perfectly and still have great clearance for a driver. The only other thing I would suggest with this drop is the CPP control arm kit for some extra ground clearance. I have been doing the final detail work on the truck this week. The bed started out looking like this:
It has lots of surface rust on the floor, and the walls were covered with decades old adhesive that was dry as sand. At some point the bed had carpet glued all over it. After 4 cans of spray stripper and 2 days of careful scraping, dousing with water, over and over again, I got it all stripped, cleaned and looking proper again. Trust me it was a long ****ty job, but well worth it in the end to save the original paint. Now it looks like this: Same deal on the glove box door. Someone had "added" some thick rubberized black paint at some point to the face of it to match the gauge bezel. I spent about a day carefully getting it stripped back to the OG paint and looking proper again, and didn't hurt the original paint under the black coat. Saved it! Getting the details like that right really make the truck so much better in my eyes. So what do you guys think of the Ghost?
