It will make access much easier. I know I'm having a harder time laying on concrete lately!

Re: The Doc & Kim 69 build

The hour or so it took to pull the cab is nothing compared to the time saved working on all those little things.

Re: The Doc & Kim 69 build

Great to see progress! I agree, getting the cab removed is the right way to go. On my last build I tried to leave the cab and bed on while I did all the frame work and it made things much more difficult than needed. On my current truck I am going to take that one hour and remove the cab! I like that adapter you used on your engine hoist.

Also, I agree on the weather! It's either too hot or too cold. NC likes to flip between the two with little warning, sometimes in the same day!

Re: The Doc & Kim 69 build

No Straight shot to the basket
lining all things up prior to installing the Boyd tank permanently ...I purchased this tank years ago locally for half its new value ...I'll be spending the other half on fabricating modifications ...not only the height but locating the fill in the center of the bed wood. Boyd sells this adapter kit I purchased or I could have made it easy and put a hatch type door in the bed instead. Im not a fan of the looks of those or have not seen any that I like ...if I don't get this right it will be a all eyes on that in the bed for eternity

Re: The Doc & Kim 69 build

arrived today ...I open all these bigger $s and trim items to check for shipping damage or imperfections this was IMO a near perfect piece as long as I am careful with install ....repacked and put in the attic for now,,, hopefully mid 2026 I will be at that juncture to install

That grill is nice!

Do you have a plan for the fuel filler?

very happy with the grill... definitely have to cut the fuel fill down to get the height right... and if I can't use the flexible hose to get it centered( its a lot less off center than it looks in the pictures) Im going to have my welder move it to the center he is great with the TIG

Re: The Doc & Kim 69 build

Happy New Years Jesse,

I had a similar experience with my tank,I had a shelf put in to clear the bed for my fuel pump worked great, I’ll see if I can find some pics, I agree that it would drive me nuts every time I put gas in it

I could use my Bridgeport and holesaw to bore the bed wood and metal slats for you if you want. Nothing would look worse than a straight cut on the slats

Great progress

Thanks Jesse, yes he is,now he has a lot of titanium and screws in him, so they built him stronger
Now he has a ride in some sort of a four wheeler so he’ll have a cage around him!! I feel better about that

Your truck is coming together great, looks good
See you in the spring bud

I don’t know why I’m still pink, pad it a couple of days ago

I hear ya! I paid mine before the new year and I'm still pink as well. Not too sure what's going on there or how to go about getting it fixed up.

Re: The Doc & Kim 69 build

I second the nice hardware comment. Such a subtle thing that goes unnoticed by most, but when it's done right it can really improve the quality of a build.

Re: The Doc & Kim 69 build

after reading through some build threads I am subscribed to I finally allowed myself to be motivated by them THANK YOU...maybe feeling I needed to kick start my own A$$..and looking for some alone time in the garage... so here we go today I repositioned the frame on the jack stands removed the rear sway bar, rear coils and disconnected the shocks laid it down on the bump stops( a suggestion from another board member) . I checked the level of my garage floor and then leveled the frame. My wife called me for dinner next time I get the chance will get the fuel tank back under to check clearance for final fitment ....Sunday busy Church Sunday Mass and then attend a wake for one of my friends another Car Guy so sad unexpected passing and a rescheduled do to weather last Sunday birthday party for my daughter. tomorrow...id much rather be in my garage except for celebrating my oldest birthday 48 roller coster emotional day tomorrow
