Every time that you post pictures of your truck, I end up staring at them for a while before I realize it's time to move on and check other posts

It's a beautiful truck!

Mark,

I know I'm crossing things up by talking here about something you posted on Facebook, but any tips for using the Collinite 845 wax the first time? My truck's paint is new but thoroughly cured. It's immaculate and all I plan to do is wipe it with a new, wet microfiber towel, dry with another and apply the wax in the shade.

User comments on Amazon seem to say you use a VERY small amount. Any other tips?

A little goes a long way Dan, you want to put on a very thin coat. I apply it with a Porter Cable random orbital polisher and a foam finishing pad, and buff the wax by hand with soft terry cloth towels. If you don't have a polisher you can apply the wax by hand. Again, the key is a light coat of wax.

I'm sure you will like the end result.

Re: Brother's keeper - '58 Stepside build

Thanks Mark,

Do you load the pad with the wax or do you just place a small amount directly on the paint and then spread with the tool? I suppose either way will work. Just don't want to waste product throwing it around.

Just came across your build and I’m floored by the work you’ve done. May I ask what color is that you painted the truck? Is it a GM color?

Re: Brother's keeper - '58 Stepside build

Friday I got the notification letter informing me that the entry application for the 63rd Annual GSTA Show was accepted. It's kind of a big deal for a number of reasons. First, I have been attending the show as a spectator since the mid '70's and it helped fuel my passion for Rods and Customs. Secondly, it will be my first indoor (judged) show. I figured why not, the truck will be minty fresh and it does seem to fit the vibe of the show.

There's a lot to do before April 13th. I need to get the truck all fluffed and buffed, line up an enclosed trailer because the weather could easily be crap in the middle of April, and get some sort of display figured out. I'm planning to use a 10' x 20' piece of Forest green indoor/outdoor carpeting and a local pinstriper is hand lettering a showboard for me.

So today has been a productive day. I changed oil, checked all the fluids and every inch of the undercarriage has been cleaned and detailed. I discovered a couple loose bolts so I grabbed my tools and checked every nut and bolt on the chassis. Tomorrow I’ll get it off the jack stands and continue detailing everything else.

Re: Brother's keeper - '58 Stepside build

I never dreamed of having a ride nice enough to be in a show like that so I’m happy just to be there. If by some miracle I win some hardware it will just be icing on the cake.

Re: Brother's keeper - '58 Stepside build

Still cleaning and detailing, at this point the truck is cleaner and nicer than it's ever been. I also got a 10' x 20' piece of leaf green indoor/outdoor carpet for the display. Things are falling into place...

I got assigned a prime spot on the main show floor at the GSTA show. This is the first public appearance for the '58, looking forward to tomorrow...
