$15,000 truck, $7-8 maybe
7-8 gets you a rusty K20 around here

The paint job looks cheaper, etc but perfect ones are 22-30k right now so I think its a fair price

This is when a SPID could really solve some problems. And if this is truly a one-owner it is probably in there. Crazy colors but it is all a part of history.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

71 short narrow V8 A/C $12000.

https://salem.craigslist.org/cto/d/1...668720940.html

1971 C10-CVT Chevy SHORT WIDE Step Side
Very hard to find - Runs Strong and Drives EXCELLENT!
Excellent R4 Automatic Transmission (professionally converted)
NEW POSI-TRACTION REAR END (u-joints replaced also)
NO DRIPS NO LEAKS!
Road Ready Daily Driver - Tags good thru 9/18

UNCUT Chevy Shortwide Chasis
Chevy Small Block 302 Motor - runs great - 100+ lbs./cylinder

Matching Serial #'s on frame and cab
CVT means "California Version Truck" which included the AC Dash, AC Controller and Tilt steering wheel as options
Tailgate and Truck bed are original and in great shape.
Wing Windows are present, working, and in great shape.
All Glass is present and in great shape
Front Seat is original and in great shape - no rips no tears no broken springs

26 Gallon Chevy Suburban Gas Tank relocated away from behind the driver seat to under the truck bed.
MINOR rust and minor body work still to do
This truck has been completely soda blasted and then coated in blue epoxy which is an excellent primer for the Northwest.

This was a daily driver for a graduated high school'er that has decided to let the next guy finish it up. We have made an amazing start to the restoration project and below is a list of everything we have replaced. I also have a box of parts that will go with the truck to the lucky person that buys it.

List of parts replaced:

FRONT END:
Complete Front Grill - 1971 Specific
Front Bumper - 1971 Specific
Drop Spindles (all 4 corners)
Head Lights
Chrome Gill
Tie Rods
Sway Bar
Inner and Outer Rod Ends
Pitman Arm

TRUCK BED:
Replaced wood with weathered pine as a temp solution but purchased All new Stainless Steel Bed Mounting Hardware, Stepside Fender Hardware and Strip Kit
New Tailgate Chains

INTERIOR:
Rocker Panels
Door Lockers
AC Controller Assembly
AC Vents and behind dash hoses
Wiper Switch
Ignition Switch
Instrument Panel Electronics and Lighting

Rubber Matt for the entire interior floor
Brake and Gas Rubber Pedals
Dash Pad
Glove Box Compartment

EXTERIOR:
1971 Stepside Specific tail lights and brackets
1971 Stepside Specific Rear Bumper
Brakes - rotors and pads front, drum rears replaced
E Brake
Door handles and locks
New Bumper Core Hardware Front and Rear
New Exhaust System
Chevy Suburban Gas Tank and Strapping (mounted between rear wheels)

UNDER THE HOOD:
Inner front fenders both sides primer black
Steering Box
Air Cleaner
Water Pump
Thermostat
Serpentine Belt
Shocks (all 4 corners)
Hood Latch hardware
Radiator Shroud
ALUMINUM Radiator
Alternator
Master Cylinder & Booster

REAR END:
All new POSI-TRACTION Rear End
(1 tire fire was a real bummer to drive, so we put another $1200 into the conversion to posi-traction)

FINAL NOTES:
Les Schwab Tires, Alignment
Les Schwab Battery
AC does not exist under the hood
No Radio or speakers
Extra Brand New Emblems and "CVT" Badges in extra box of parts
There are a batch of other small items replaced like little switches, wiper blades, antenna and plenty of things I've forgotten about as I write this ad.

The price is 12,000 and is a perfectly fair price for this truck, I've listed the replacements - do the math yourself. If you call and low ball me, after I get a good laugh, I'll hang up.

When a seller feels compelled to attempt to convince potential buyers that the asking price is 'perfectly fair' before they've even called, he's indicating that even he doesn't really believe it's perfectly fair to ask that much for it. Has been stated a thousand times on here - the $ a seller sinks into a truck to sell it has no relation to its actual worth in most cases. What I can say, is that if I'm on the fence interested in a truck - when the ad is written like this, I normally just pass to avoid the hassle.

I hear you loud and clear on this truck and seller. I think this truck is going to be available for sale for quite awhile.

Note to self: make sure there are no odd shadows cast on the subj of a photo... Until I saw the flagpole outline, I though it was just a very odd patch of gray primer....

Pretty sure it's not the original motor in it. Doesn't the AC live on the passenger side of the engine not the alternator???

302 is an overbored 283. Guaranteed that isn't original, unless they sleeved the snot out of a 350. The 283 was discontinued in '67 (replaced by the 307 in '68), IIRC. Maybe they meant 307.
