Hey, Mud.
Yeah. Nice.

I could have used that truck more times than one.

Today, I finally uncovered RAT and put the charger on the battery. Tomorrow, if it doesn't start,
I've got family here to hand-put her in the garage.

I've waited too long to change out the starter. Pressed my luck.

Now, it's time to climb under. Also, I'm putting in a little better quality electric fuel pump...replacing the
cheapo that's on the frame rail behind the passenger side of the cab.. I forget what the new one is. But it's healthy.

The old one seemed to starve out the carb when I was either taking a long "passing" upgrade...
....Or when I was being a "Bad Boy".

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I purchased a new, stock oil dipstick and installed. A perfect fit. Also replace the new Earls swivel fuel pump to line connector I bought new that leaked - Summit shipped me a new one immediately, (kudos to them!) and the new one is perfect - no leaks. Took the truck for an early fall drive too.

Reassembled exhaust manifold, put on new carburetor and modified oil bath to fit. Painted and cleaned quite a bit of the engine as well over the past 2 days.

Nice ! .

I like your rig and the 235, especially the painted " CHEVROLET " on the rockerbox .

Those are very easy to tune sharply for good power and smooth as silk idle, just ask .

Drained tank, removed some fuel lines. Removed hardware from the bench seat, stored bench seat with spare boxes under the cap on my Tundra. I don't have the luxury of a lot of space, but a tear-down sure uses it up. I have parts in four rooms and the garage of course. The wife loves it.

Trust me, the build will be FAR easier than the tear-down.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Fixed a broken wire on my alternator. Not sure when it broke but it left me stranded at the supermarket on Saturday. AAA had it back in the driveway in no time and it was an easy fix. AAA guy said it was his 5th antique of the morning...there are a lot of leaf peepers this time of year. One of the PO's was not so handy in the wiring department.

I picked up the truck in June, and have put 1000+ trouble free miles on it. I have no complaints whatsoever considering where I started.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I repaired the broken door check strap on the driver's door. It took me less than 30 minutes with parts from Classic Parts. I used a 3/16 roll pin punch to remove the roll pin. I had to remove the door panel to gain access.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

The 72' finally got towed to body and paint.

Been in deconstruction mode the last couple of weeks.
I learned alot about the inner works of our C10's by tearing down the truck.
Been taking photos of everything, bagging/tagging, cleaning/polishing and refurbishing as many of the original parts possible.
Engine and all underhood components will be pulled for paint and detail also.
Alot of fun work ahead.

I put some much needed new rubber on the 'ol girl (Goodyear LT245 75/R16 E1) and the rear shocks (KYB Monomax) that my wife bought me for my birthday last year. She rides sooo much better now!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I've had my truck, 68 step side, for nearly a year. I recently found a frame to build so I can keep the truck together for the time being.
I degreased the frame today. I hope to prime and paint it this week.

One day, I want to do the same thing with my truck's frame. Totally degrease, derust, and clean it up, epoxy prime it, and follow up with some hard core anti rust paint.

I hauled the passenger front outer fender back to the painter so he could hit the insides he couldn't spray with some POR 15-like anti-rust paint.

Slowly, slowly.......she is getting done.
