Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Well......

@CraigRK and I are both as bad as each other.

We are always coming up with random stuff to make, create or recycle.

Getting each other excited and worked up till we make rash decisions

So this thread will hopefully OUT-RANDOM the Random stuff some of you have come to expect from us.

Feel free to add, comment, advise and most importantly donate bits if you feel you can improve what’s being created.

So yesterday I stopped at the scrapyard on the way home to look for some bits we needed for this little project.

WISH LIST:
Go kart wheels
Pram wheels.
Old or new Radio Flyer body
Galvanised bath (small)
Plastic pedal tractor engine.
Anvil

Get my drift yet??

Found a tractor. Minus motor.

Got home with these.

So after a mid year discussion with my boss today I stopped over at Craigs place off J9 of the M25 (Big mistake) on the way home to pick up some more bits and drop stuff off for him.

Back seat of my car, also had a roll of roofing felt for Sally’s shed roof.

Eventually got home at 7pm as the M25 had a 75 minute delay on the way back.

Unpacked the car. Fed the cat.

Laid out the basics.

Added colour.

Get the idea yet??

Draw along bootfair or swapmeet, car show wagon.

So there you go.

Let’s see what next.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Been looking for a used, dead Radio Flyer tub to use on this build.

Tonight I managed to get this Hazet tray and a bunch of tools.

Should make a nice tray.

Not as nice as @Johnnybravo has been able to snag, but happy to have a better part than the porta potty.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Discovered this in my shed.

Really nice steering gear.

Sally was helping me unpack the tools from the box.

Big ones.

Little ones.

Included in the tools were quite a few SnapOn tools

Eventually got it all unpacked, sorted.

Look closely at just how many tools this purchase netted.

Eventually we got to this mock up.

Other end.

When I shut the garage and walked up, I realised just how nicely the relaunched garden has come up.

Thanks to Sally.

I guess next will be the actual build.

After this. We headed out to the Sheppeyncar meet in the Blazer

Much more fun than be allowed.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Took the chairs Sawdust Steve brought over, to Sally’s place in Prozac tonight.

Left it there as she is gutting her bedroom and it all will go to the tip.

As always, the little van that can is delivering

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Got home yesterday from a day spent at Sally’s place completely gutting and tearing her bedroom and all of its furniture apart.

Her son, daughter in law and grandson will be moving in for two years with her in order to save up for a deposit on their own place. The lovely landlord where they have lived the last three years and cleaned up and improved at their own cost has doubled the rent. So she is giving them the large main bedroom, redecorated and moving herself into the third very small bedroom. Crazy, but that’s a mother’s love, and they are good hardworking kids.

Being that it all will be going into Prozac the van, for disposal at the local council tip 10:miles away, it really needed to be completely dismantled, right down to the handles, knobs, runners, hinges etc which @CraigRK is getting for his garage projects where he builds sliding storage solutions..

More on this later.

Got home and there was a surprise parcel in the kitchen, which Tim, the new lodger must have got from Mickey next door when he came in from his all day training course.

I opened the parcel and found a note, two number plates and a number plate surround.

The new plate was from a 1955 Lambretta scooter, unused, for my collection.

The second plate was an original 1962 California plate, clearly worked all its life.

Parcel from Ernie, PedalcarJoe, collector of high end stuff. In this case, he had been told to get rid of his first ever emotional patina purchase by power that is Mrs PCJ.

So the reason I wanted to sell the Blazer in the first place, and have been buying upholstery fabric and other bits, and even now, am looking for an INDUSTRIAL SEWING MACHINE, was because I wanted to buy Ernie 1962 Ford Falcon Country Squire.

Which of course has now sold, hence the 1954 Chevy Bel Air moving into the picture, unless I find something else more interesting

This was the car for those who did not know it.

And yes, it would have kept its look, mostly.

Older pics.

Morning Bill,

Yes they make silly money.

Pretty much how one could look at art and sculpture

Value is what someone is prepared to pay.

So last night the sun set was even better, having snagged the Hazet tray.

Up at 5am, thanks to Harley, then 28 miles to fetch my prize.

Took Prozac in the end as it’s just such a nice tool. Thankfully as there were some really narrow lanes to get there and the Blazer is rather wide.

Nice guy the seller.

Tools.

Included was a mini tabletop Workmate with all of its parts, and a serious woodmans axe.

And mocked up.

Looks like we are in business.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Only one of the Bootfair venues open today.

So 50p for Craig.

Like this a lot for 50p

Check out the artist in the signature on the back.

Craig has wanted a coat hook. £4.0

His wife loves Halloween 20p each.

£1.00 for a self destructing wire wheel

20p each.

Got separated from £3.00 for these here.

After Bootfair it was home as Sawdust Steve and his daughter were headed here
Great Guy, great family.

Steve also brought two oak lounger chairs over

Claimed by Sally

Soon to be sanded down and painted.

Halfway there.

Job done.

To stripe or not to stripe.

And a photo taken on Saturday on the way to a car meeting

I am glad it got taken as my arms are not long enough for a selfie like that.

Another good weekend.

A very good internet friend and mentor on Garage Journal in Australia recently lost the fight against cancer.

He had inspired many around the world and will be missed a lot.

Various mementos have been generated in Steve “1/2 Cup” Church’s memory.

One of his things was to get Quality Shed Time in.

Thank you Gazza in Australia for the QST stickers.

@CraigRK obviously snagged one and Dennis Jones gets one too.

Once I have decided on the right place, which may be inside my house (I live there and pay the mortgage) I will show its place of honour.

Trusting Steve will approve.

Continuing on the 54 Bel Air theme @CraigRK and I have spent hours talking about it and all the potential permutations of buying it.

Including the cost of modifications and service parts and upgrades.

Not cheap by any means but it will mean a decent safe car if it gets bought.

More later.

I hear they loosen the fillings in your teeth.

.a very eventful weekend for me, Sally and Prozac.

She was gutting and destroying all of her bedroom furniture

I had to dismantle it all, flatpack reversed.

Halfway through it.

Also managed to find her a new garden gate on FB market place for £25.00

This was to be collected on Sunday in Prozac

After packing the van we went to my place, Sally bought dinner.

Pensioners portion for me, weird order, three pieces of fish in one lump.

So after Bootfair today, I went to empty the van, followed by picking up the gate.

Fits easily into the rear

Then back at Sally’s place.

Fitted.

And the rest of the bedroom furniture, bed frame etc along with the old gate, ready for disposal.

Morning Andy,

THREAD HERE: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/...d.php?t=334140

These Arrived in St Louis yesterday

For @CraigRK and @djones1 and myself.

Thank you very much for forwarding these on to us.

I suspect Dennis may let us know where his is going to go.

Craig, who knows, he has such a variety of possible places to post it.

Me........?
