Must be brake week .. Fixed the front brake rattle on the 85 fixed the rear brake on the Envoy and now the Dodge rear brake froze up . I can’t catch a break , the other side pads are like new .

Guys were giving her all the attention... ya think? She's telling us about the baby geese and mom she saw at her place, about a pond she didn't know was nearby. All the guys could come up with was tell her how pretty and sexy she was. I figured she already knew that, heard it all the time from guys, and knew any one of them would want to be with her. I talked to her about the baby geese, the pond, and birds she said she loved. Later on she started a conversation with me and that led to us leaving the party. Indifference works!

I think I was right about your neighbor. First you took out the fence. That ticked him off so he took the materials. He acted unfriendly for no apparent reason so you would want to put up a new fence. You put up a new fence and now no problems.

BTW, how about that REO truck advertisement I mounted in a frame I made from repurposed maple dresser drawers? Keyholes and all? An old woman I did work for gave me the dresser. It was in very rough shape. I decided it would take too much to retore, but she was a friend and I didn't want to just junk it. My friend has a '58 REO in similar colors to the one in the ad. We're gone to antique truck shows in it for years. I saw this ad, thought of him, and the idea for the frame came along. It's a really cool ad if you can read it all or make the picture out

Working on wife's '05 Buick Rainier. Upper control/trailing arms on both sides are rusted completely off and mounting bracket & frame have bad rust. Making an eighth inch thick plate to patch the frame and will build new outer bracket. Gotta love this Iowa salt and brine they use here....

Yep, some of it is hard to get to to weld it. The gas tank is right behind it also. I told the wife maybe it will catch on fire and make a crispy critter out of it..... Only problem is I cancelled the full coverage insurance on it a while back.

Thanks, we are always looking too. Seems to go in spurts. Haven't found any pictures of that model Bowser pump. No numbers on the pump other than serial number.

you're right.those old pumps turn up when you least expect them.i went last week to an old boys place about 5 hours from here to buy a landscape rake for my tractor.we talked about tractors in the yard for a few minutes and then he said,you might as well come in and see my new tractor,walked in and there was an old pump,not as old as what you found,probably from the 70's but i asked if it was for sale?he said it had sitting there in the corner for years but he'd sell it,but my truck was full,so i see a trip back there very soon to get the pump.

The swing tongue jack on my trailer broke . The nut inside the lift tube stripped out . The trailer just dropped to the ground glad I didn’t have the Chevelle on it I had just taken it off and unhooked the trailer from the dodge . The screw is fine but couldn’t find a nut to weld onto the drop tube . It’s 3/4 -8 left handed Acme thread . McMaster has them for 6$ but by the time I buy and ship then weld it up might as well buy a new one . But for the time being I used an old tongue jack from my cargo trailer that I replaced with an electric unit . Couple of cuts and some welding and it good for the time being . Little to light duty but until I get a 2k pound unit it’ll do .

What is the stack of wood in the center? Joists? It looks like you have quite a span for that sub floor.

Decided to mow the lawn today in the middle of the afternoon. Temperature was about 107* with clear sky.

I took several breaks but still ended up getting way too hot. After it was all done and I was inside in the cool the nausea hit me...I felt like puking for a good half hour and didn't really feel normal for another couple hours.

This has happened to me once before when I was in my 30s at a golf range in the heat. Not a pleasant experience in either case.

Be careful out there.

Late response but, just getting around to catching up.

I live, somewhere near you, in Rowlett. That 107 doesn't reflect the heat index that I believe was around 115 that day. It was close to the same at the lake house that day and just couldn't be smart enough to NOT power wash the house siding.

I am damned near 70 years old with covid lungs, to boot and that heavy air impacted me more than I thought...until I was gasping for air. The Queen was more than pissed at me. I was lucky that I didn't get sick...or worse.

I wound up with half of it done. The next day my youngest daughter and her husband came up and finished the job. Wouldn't even let me pour soap into the pressure washer. LOL!

Overheating and heat stroke can be killers. Drink lots of water and stay safe out there. We are not as bullet proof as we think we are ...at any age,.

I would like to put one of the windmills over the well but the wife said no, you have to have the water go somewhere when it's pumping. Probably have to put in a couple of check valves in the line because this well is 400' deep, think they set our pump at 278'

I finished up a job Monday just as rain showers came up, so couldn't haul my tools home in the open pickup. That gave me a slack day of loading, hauling, and unloading tools in the morning. I decided to knock out a railing on the back platform (deck) on my barn using left over materials. This is literally against the property line in the far back lower corner and directly in front of the neighbor's house. They see it all the time. I hardly ever go back there. I always liked old places with shutters that had cut-outs of a tree, squirrel, star, etc, and decided to do pine trees to give it a chalet look up under their big spruce trees

A massive look, isn't it? I didn't have any 4x4 but I had all these cut-offs of 2x8. Well, that oughta be strong enough . This is the junk end of my property and lately I've given it some attention. Starting off I poured a slab between the building and fence when I built the barn. There was no door and I took things up a ladder. Then I built the platform and stairs that were full width maybe 20 years ago. About 15 years ago I put leftover metal roofing under the deck to make it somewhat dry under there. Then I got the idea close it in on the end and front of deck, so I narrowed the steps. It's another under cover parts stash area now. Leaves funnel back into there in the fall and it's a PIA to clear that out. So, recently I took a scrap of pressure treated plywood and cut risers on the steps. That leaves just the slot I pass through, but leaves will still blow back in there. yesterday, I also built a cover that lays over that slot out of 2x2 and an extra piece of green corrugated fiberglass that rests on the edge of the steps. That will be hinged up top, so I can lift and prop it up when I need to get back in there. I know, might be a lot to follow. I'll get a picture of that.

I'm going to take that foam arched thing off and do something creative in the gable to go with the chalet theme

I drove over to Moncton, NB to the Indian Motorcycle dealer to have them sort out some electrical stuff that is outside my scope of expertise on my 2012 Chief. Stayed over night . It seems there was a Shania Twain Concert in town. As I am happily married and old but not blind, I wanted to advise you young men that it appeared there were an inordinate number of unescorted young ladies headed to the concert. So if you see she's in town buy a ticket! I'm just sayin..... In other news... my daughter and grandson are arriving from New Zealand tomorrow for a month. Grampy has dozens of exercises to spoil the HE double Hockey stick out of him!
