Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
I should have told you Rian you would need a spacer. The thought just passed thru the empty space between my ears. I think I used a 1" spacer, but don't remember. I had issues clearing top of the HEI distributor with my air cleaners.

Not a problem, I have ordered a 1/2 inch, let’s hope it does not prove to be 50% of what I need. Saw this elsewhere. Made me smile.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
Follow up to the weekend
Just got in from a two day meeting. Snow on the way home, cat unimpressed But got the spacer and PCV. Fitting and try out over the weekend. Saturday morning may be me and Prozac over to Essex to pick up a load of wood for the fire place. Sunday morning is Kent Breakfast meeting again. Looking forward to it. Unimpressed with me leaving her alone for two days.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
For sure. And some more. Sunrise -1’C this morning, but lovely views. Followed by an email from my old boss, who is now my new Boss’ boss. Nice to get acknowledged for just doing your job. Had another team meeting this afternoon in Croydon, took me over two hours to get home, 45 miles. Found a parcel in my safe place Horn button for the steering wheel Ian Brown had sent, came from Scotland. Not in great condition, but 100times better than not having one at all. Just offered up to see it is the right size. Needs a clean still, and if I can find a better one, that would be good too. Little by Little the Blazer is coming together

Congrats on the award Rian. Little work and that horn button will work good.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
Very rough week at work.
But therapy was at hand when I got in. Small job, cleaning up the horn push. Looks better now. Just need to figure what to do about the cracked front. Prozac into action in the morning. Off to Romford to see mate Steve, and collect this lot of fire wood, kindling.

The button cleaned up pretty good. I am sure a plan will work up to overlay the issues with it.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
Up early, then headed out to Romford in Essex in Prozac.
Was headed to see SawdustSteve and wife Jenny to visit, see their cats, chickens and a new Spanish refugee.... Oh and I got to pick up a full load of cut pallets from Steve for my fire place. More importantly it was great seeing good people again. Refugee. Looks a lot less than it is, and the rear sunk a bit..... No action photos. The van that can. At about 11.15 I left Steve’s place and headed over to Henry’s place 15 minutes away. Of course usually it is him visiting me and doing wiring etc. Today it was my turn, no work done, just got to play with his best mate, a Siamese cat and try take in everything in his garage and shop. He has bought himself a Project, and his wife loves it, NOT 😁 1990 Porsche 944 S 2 A former Press Car. Bought running and on the road, it did not take Henry long to start fixing and upgrading, a lot. But of course if you see things like the Oil cooler...... And some of the muck that came out of the feeding duct, you will understand why he went down the slippery route of getting things right. So soon it was Hubs, brakes, suspension, brake lines.... Calipers Before.... After. Upgraded, rebuilt shocks. Everything has been, and continues to be touched with Henry’s magic wand where perfection is the only way. It did not take long to go past 2.00pm with us talking shop, cars, bikes, vintage bench vices and everything inbetween. So I needed to get home to work on the Blazer too, before dark, so coffee, biccies etc and then eventually homeward. Another great day.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
Sometimes things really do pee me off.
So I ordered a 1/2 inch spacer to get the air cleaner raised and fitted to the Holley carb in the Blazer. Ermmmm, Nope. Too tight, just no way of fitting it. Call in the side cutters, and duct tape. After correcting it, the gap was about 2mm and I placed it where there was a metal wall. Done. I will apologise in advance, but yesterday Harley was on one of her missions, holding tools, inspecting, approving and generally being an absolute pain in the butt. Certainly had the wind up her tail. Kept on walking about the engine bay, despite me putting her on the ground repeatedly. It was cold, and the wet and chill combined made me realise she is just mad for being out there. Typically she to try out the perch. Settling on the edge while I fitted the PCV valve to the truck as well. So needed the latest bit of action on the Blazer.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
I continue to be amazed at this little car.
I started this thread to find out more on various forums and learned enough to decide to go look at the car today, after speaking to the seller who is the second owner only, having bought it a year ago from the first owner......... Thread: http://retrorides.proboards.com/thre...tispace-bought So this was the ad. 2001 model Citroen Berlingo Multispace in 1400cc petrol guise. A rip snorting 75bhp from the factory. This car came with a full length electric sunroof. . This is now the third time I am taxing this for the road, at £230.00 for the year, or under £1.00 per day, or certainly under a Dollad a day, it continues to be one of the most efficient tools on my drive. Add to that the smiles per mile, minimal fuel usage from the 1.4 liter petrol engine, and I keep wondering why I keep looking at other options to replace it. I seem to be a bit of a car whore when it comes to looking for the next good time. Which I still do, daily. But right now, Prozac will continue to darken my drive with its all to familiar shadow.

And.....
For your amusement This car came in for a silencer repair as it got a bit noisy. https://youtu.be/qSZy89FMQ-0 Wonder if any other issues were addressed. Yes, in South Africa. Thought the Blazer had some issues.

Take 3....1 for Prozac, 1 for not-a-project and one for red when it gets up again.
The chipmunks in Prozac would be trippin!

First of the “Not a Project” stickers applied...... Yup, to Prozac’s rear screen. Half the pallets still in the rear as they need individual dismantling nail by nail, joint by joint. Parcel in the post this week, contents included two Stars n Stripes flags in shredded, Florida hurricane attacked state, plus some stickers and targets for my shooting, from Gary “Mr Zog” Also some wheels for my work bag that my good friend Lee the lawyer had managed to get for me. New and old..... Loads of miles the last three years. And the little carved stone bat I had seen in Hannibal in September on the USA road trip, same shop I met her at the time. I should have bought it at the time. Love it. Went down to start the Blazer this morning, not started or moved it in 4weeks, seriously. Pumped the throttle, then a few pumps while cranking it over and it fired right up. Pretty impressed, had it running for a bit, looked at the vitals. Buggerrrr....... Not charging. So the question will be: Belt need tightening, or alternator needing to be replaced. Take a peep. https://youtu.be/awf0hz1L3t4 Hope to get that sorted soon as well. Not a Project is it.?

It still should charge Rian, since it is spinning. Check the output with a voltmeter. Maybe the gauge just crapped and not the alternator.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
I know we have high dollar builds, low buck bodges and everything inbetween on here.
Also many of us have varied interests. A new build thread over on Retro Rides that caught my attention. It is still very early days, so let’s see where it goes. I for one am liking it so far, and it seems the builder will deliver something to make many of us smile and nod in approval. When life hands you lemons...... Drink tequila Ford Corsair With A Difference | Retro Rides If this is not your thing, then I do apologise but just don’t look again. Peace.

Neat looking build. Looks hefty, I wonder how much weight it will add to the vehicle. A lot has been removed, but he has added alot too.

Thanks Gents. As mentioned. Had other things to do........ and someone to do too Not even started or driven the Blazer in 5 weeks. Where does the time go to? Been busy though, loads of random stuff that needed doing for the day job, year end performance reviews etc. So no time for toys or playing. Also last Saturday over at @CraigRK to hang around and generally get under his feet while we sorted out his 17 year old sons first car, a 50k Miles VW Polo 1.0 liter in 3 door form. Basically belts, fluids, plugs, brakes and anything else that could be done for a 60k mile service and the rest, in order to set him up with a reliable car, bought, insured and service paid for with the money from the sale of his 50cc motorbike. Way to go Kyle !! Craig gave him a spare 125cc from his stash to use now. It needs a full size spare wheel as it is missing it, a seat release knob for passenger side and a few other tiny cosmetic bits. And of course some free alloys, pity I gave the set I had stashed, away two years ago. Hopefully a thread will follow soon from Craig or Kyle. Need to complete the pallet disassembly and cutting up for fire wood, though not had a fire this year...... Then clean out Prozac on the inside and get onto the Blazer some time today, inbetween I need to do some shopping as well.. Had a lovely dinner date last night with a lady who lives 2.3 miles up the road. Random? Yes, it is, however..... When a girl sends you pics like this. Surely she understands. Yesterday I collected a small parcel from the postal depot and when I got home, it had a note inside. For those who do not know, I met Bret in Austin, Texas on my first trip to America and our friendship has continued to both grow and develop. Some Hotwheels, all the way from the USA to add to my collection of random stuff I love, he previously gave me some others too. And possibly my faves, the Toaster and Wheely chair. Right, need to get outside and get started, the fog is lifting and it may be a nice day. Later.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
Sunday....
Fog, really thick fog, even at 11.00 it was still thick. Started the Blazer up optimistically this morning, I continue to be amazed at just how willing and easy this truck is. All the electrical seem to be back on track. Washed it out front. So it cleared up by 13.00 and I got going and headed down to town with a silly grin on OMG face. Parked up and headed into Rochester. Nothing like the smell of Castrol 2 Stroke smoke. Lambretta blatting around. Rochester Cathedral. Front doors. Detail.
