Dude I've got the same gun for non critical areas ...for the price you can't beat it ...consistent spray pattern, good atomization and best of all cheap

How much were those shocks, and are they single or mono tube?

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Did a bit more work on developing the technique for the fauxtina on my stepside bed. The bed had shiney spots from the areas that were low and didn't get sanded. I used my hand finishing sander with a green Scotchbrite attached. This helped, and was quick and easy, but there was still some gloss. I then used some full strength degreaser (Purple Power) and simply wiped it on with a shop rage, then removed it with a dry shop rag. That did the trick and was also pretty easy.

So the technique is now defined, now I just gotta find the time to do the rest of the truck I am sure most of ya would agree that working for a livin' is way over-rated.

(if your curious about primer and how it was applied check out my build thread. The primer application is the key to the look)...

This last photo shows the lack of gloss of the "finished" product. The faux-tina process isn't for the faint of heart, once the gloss coat is sprayed over the rolled on primer the paint looks hideous. The sanding, scotchbrite and chemical de-glossing brings it back to some level of decency... well arguably so. I know a lot of people hate it. That's ok, variety is the spice of life and I gotta tell ya'll I am having a grand ole time working on this.

Smile Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Not a heck of a lot. My supervisor took half the day off so I brought in my passenger side inner fender in to work so I could pressure wash, media blast and weld up all the factory and PO's holes. Unfortunately after pressure washing I discovered that the inner fenders were undercoated in places so I couldn't media blast it. I have to go after it with the heat gun and a putty knife first. I plan on getting one of those $170.00 - 22 circut wiring harnesses off eRape and running my wiring down the inside of the frame rails. That way I can run an internally regulated alternator, get rid ot the voltage regulator, move the horn between the grille and the radiator support and mount a NOS radiator over flow bottle that I have for a 71 Cadillac. It should fit perfect. I'm actually looking forward to going to the graveyard shift for the next 3 months. I plan on getting a LOT done on my truck durning that time as long we have no major break downs at my work while I'm on graves.
I'm pretty lucky. At my work they have a 100 TON press, 1 Bridgeport mill, 1 steam cleaner, 2 pressure washers, 2 TIG welders, 2 arc welders, 3 MIG welders, 2 lathes but one is down right now, 1 band saw, 1 chop saw, etc, etc. they should know better than leave me unsupervised during a shift.

I replaced the 5 1/2 year old dry rotted tires so I can now roll it in and out of the hobby shop. Let the games begin tomorrow with the tear down process.

Been wanting to get into airbrush for a long time. This is my first attempt. It's easier than people think, just get some stencils and you can play to your hearts content. I think i'll try some flames next.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Well , I got the engine in the 63 today .. It would like to have killed me .. Every thing had to be reworked nothing went together like I had hoped it would ,missed the fact there was a broken bolt in the rear of the head so the last header bolt will have to wait .. I found one like it on the left side before dropping it in and it was an easy one to remove .... the P/S works , I ran it for a minute , no leaks , it is charging ,so all I have to do is finish weld the steering shaft and install the new radiator...

It was hotter than an electric prod on a hog's behind outside.
Took many breaks!

Please don't take my question wrong but I am curious as to why you are fabing up such big wheel tubs when the top and sides of the tire don't come anywhere near the top of the tubs?
Do you have an Air Ride setup or something that will take the tires up further in the wheel tubs.
Again, just curious.
