Put on my temp historical tag and insurance, so now I'm legal, then off to the grocery store for a short cruise.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Test fit some smoothies I bought from a board member.
They aren't going on this truck, but I wanted to see what they looked like.

They will be going on the red GMC one of these days! Just waiting on a 4/6 drop and some other goodies.

It looks like I need a taller wider tire for the back. I guess a 275/45/20 will have to work since the rims are 8.5" wide.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

My dailly driver blew a headgasket so was driving c10 as a dailly driver. Today I took it to my friend's chassis dyno and did some tuning on it. Best pull was 332hp and 360 torque at the wheels.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

removed the insulation under the dash. spent 4 hours scraping most of the black goo they used to stick it down. Note to self. The insulation is not fire retardant... I got sick of scraping and was going to heat up the insulation and goo with a blow torch. Started a little fire....

Had a high beam out so I installed new headlights. I haven't done anything with the wiring but thought I'd try silverstar headlights anyway...HUGE difference!!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Well the windshield is in the truck. Had as guy come over and put it in for me. Some things are better left to the professionals. I bought a sliding window a couple of years ago ata aswap meet for the truck and went to put it in and come to find out it is for a 73 chevy. You can not trust everyone. I have seen a couple since but knew I had one already. Well the search continues. I will try to find an original aluminum one or I will buy new. Bummer. Should be starting it this week.Any one looking for a 73 aluminum slider let me know.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Finished one side of my truck and started on the other side, removed door and bottom hinge and ready to cut and lower improperly installed rocker, welded on 1" too high same as the other side. Nice install but just too high.

I was told it was one of the rear seats from a burban. It was not a direct bolt in!! A couple hours worth of time but it fits pretty well. The contour of the seat matches with the 4wd and 4spd shifter, and now I gots cup holders!!

It's a much nicer ride than the factory seat too.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Got my last door (driver's side) bolted back on and adjusted, what a pain in the a$$. It's a OEM door, just not the original door. It fits pretty good, just not as good as the passenger side door which is original. I also got my air conditioning condenser mounted in the radiator support and installed new lower radiator mount brackets.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

My old trusty fuel pump gave up Friday after many faithful years of reliable service. It was born in the spring of '98 on the East side of Las Vegas. It spent it's entire life dutifully working on a '69 Chevy C-10 outlasting two engines, and countless other parts, too many to mention. All was fine until that fateful day when with an enormous eruption of motor oil and gasoline that it announced it's demise. It is survived by among many other components it's closest friends, The Carburetor, and The Fuel Tank to both of which it was closely attached. There was a private service in the garage after which the remains were recycled.

Because of all of the fuel that polluted my motor oil I had to change it also. Last Fall my A/C compressor seized. Tucker Parts where I purchased the kit replaced it on the spot without any questions. I've always received great service from them. I wasn't in any hurry to install it with months of cool weather ahead, but with temperatures in the ninety's expected next week the time was ripe to put my air conditioning back together. When I was lubing the truck I found a bad outer tie rod end, and replaced it as well, and also put new bushings on my sway bar. Many of the parts I replaced nearly fifteen years ago are really starting to show their age. Some of these have a whole lot of miles on them. They don't last forever, but it all proves what an incredibly reliable truck these are.

Drove the GMC to work three days last week. Today, washed a couple of trucks, took some pictures and put them down for the night.
