Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I installed my new gauge cluster housing now sporting a full compliment of factory style gauges. I only had to pull it back out once, the damn printed circuit had a bad spot and one strip short circuited and melted. I was able to fix it with a bypass but I shouldn't have to with a brand new part. Anyway, finally got everything working. Then I started in on my Digi-Tails LED tails install. Egad they make it complicated, more complicated than it needs to be I think. And then they have an error in their instructions about the size of mounting holes to drill. This caused a good hour's extra work to compensate once the holes were drilled. For the price they charge, their instructions should at least be accurate.

Yesterday I pretty much completed the install of LED lights all around. I started a separate thread with a link to a Youtube video if anyone is interested.

Lace painted the roof, and painted the logo on the doors of my shop truck today.
Quite satisfied to be honest. And I had to do something about the result of a lousy painter who did the paint and prep work for the previous owner.

I installed dome light switches and courtesy lights. Can't believe they built so many of these without door activated dome lights. It got too dark as I was working so I left it until tomorrow to tidy up the wiring and better attach it up under the dash.

I got the bed cover alarm switch installed to go with the rest of it. I have a nice working system with shock senor and doors hood and bed cover triggers.

That's funny, I couldn't wait to drive mine just like that. No windshield hood or bed. But man it was a since of accomplishment. Good for you.

Finished installing the courtesy lights. Found some pre-existing holes in the bottom of the dash so I didn't even have to drill any extra holes! Love when that happens.

Your 72 looks like mine. Mine is fairly new to me. You can see it on my build thread.

Right when I had decided to paint them in gloss (after painting this piece in Mar Hyde satin), I looked under my hood at all my other rusted engine parts and realized.....no matter what I do, this part will look out of place. LOL |

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Today I made a huge advance! Not to my truck, all I did to it was to rust treat some rusty screw holes.....but I helped the freight truck driver load up the two crates I built for the fellow member in Canada! I had to get those out of the garage so I could get the room to get back on my truck. Seeing that box truck leave caused me to almost jump for joy!

Re: Original Air Cleaner
Yuo're correct ~
It's supposed to be glossy black . Agreed it'll look out of place for a while but that's normal in regular Service and Repair . I still don't know if it's oil bath or paper element typ.... -Nate Quote:

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
This the first trail fit with all the boards and bars. Looks great and with it being composite it is finished once I screw it down. I need to trim a little off some edges but that's it.

Re: Original Air Cleaner
A member on here told me mine was a dry air cleaner. When I mentioned how oily it was, he explained that was due to how badly worn out the engine it came off was.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I finished installing my door glass and regulators, looks like I'm gonna be buying a new set of regulators though, seems they are very hard to operate, the passenger side more than the driver side.
First impressions of my new electric vacuum pump set up for my brakes was well worth the money I spent in setting it up.you can barely hear the pump when it's running and I never had any problems braking, whatsoever. I still need to get an alignment, I can hear my tires squalling going into turns. But other than that, I guess I'm almost ready to graduate Pictures to come later. Have a great weekend! Ben

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Drilled and bolted my front 4 link brackets after cleaning and priming the mating surfaces that will get missed by powder coat so far. The No Limit stuff is really nice. I plan to finish up the upper coilover mounts as well today and get things aligned in the rear. Then it's on to the "cross" member placement and I can finish cutting out the old cross members and boxing the frame. Then I'll get it all welded up.

This was done Thursday actually. I took advantage of a calm morning and got the white sprayed on the top. I added some flattener to the paint, don't want it to look too new and shiney.

That's a great looking truck! And I see already rolling on rally wheels! Any more changes to come?
