Re: What did you do to your truck today!
They aren't perfect, but I think they are kind of neat. I had some sticker paper so I printed some bowties, cut them out, put them on, and then tinted the lights. Originally, I was going to peel the stickers off and put another coat or two on and have the bowties ghosted in. I think they would probably look really cool on a black truck.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Let's see...I got my steering column (with all the new parts) back in. Got my new master cylinder bolted on but still have to install the proportioning valve and hook up the brake lines. Got some more of the wiring done (safety switch, brake light switch, cigarette lighter and steering column). The 100 amp alt I got from Jeg's has a short or something, shooting sparks out the back and only charging 13.1 volts so I took it off and sending it back tomorrow. I ordered my new Dakota digital VHX gauges from Summit last week...waiting for the UPS guy.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Changed my grill out to get rid of the black one and used a do it yourself bedliner kit.
I kinda hate bedliners although my bed was in pretty poor shape to start with.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Today, I talked to my truck nicely... VERY nicely. With a bit of sweat starting to run down my neck...
I was sitting in a line of traffic waiting to get through a stop sign... the engine was warm, but after 3 or 4 minutes... when it was my turn to get with it or get out of the way... it DIED. YIKES! I mildly panicked and prob flooded it a wee bit. Shoulda just pulled the choke- but after 30 seconds of self-cursing and 'waving' to the folks behind me (can't believe that NO ONE honked)... got it started and took my place in line. Life goes on... sometimes there's just a bit of excitement thrown in to remind you who is in charge ! (I was probably just getting reminded to drive the darn thing more frequently) Today I'm using it to haul around a sofa for someone, so maybe my attention will be rewarded... |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I've een on vacation this week so I have had plenty of time to take care of and fix quite a few things this week so far.
Changed oil and oil filter. Checked transmission oil. Replaced fuel filter. Replaced starter with a rebuilt unit. Cleaned up some electrical contacts in starting circuit. Replaced ignition switch. Repacked wheel bearings and greased up all suspension parts. Drove out to the lake to do some fishing yesterday. No luck! Going out again today! Keith |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
All but the ignition and one ground wire done on the Vintage Air. The cables were a b*^$h. But, that's because I do them about every six years. Hahahaha!
Dropped her off of the jacks to look at some wheel rub clearances. No apparent problems. More cab work tomorrow. Short of adding fluids, and a trip to the A/C guy, I'm pretty much done under the hood....Maybe. Waiting for bumper bolts. Gotta fill the differential. adjust the e-brake. Find the brake fluid leak up front. That's the worst part of this build so far. Stainless lines. I'm having a real issue finding where the crap is coming from. I'll have to pull the a/c controls out again because I'm still doing duct work and radio, etc. Here are some pics from today: http://tinyurl.com/7fdbgm2

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I loaded the truck up and went to the Spring Willys Reunion on Friday. I had enough Jeep parts on the truck to squat it a bit LOL! This was it's longest excursion from home, 200 mile round trip.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
In the past 2 weeks (that's how long it took me to find this thread again) I've drove my 71 more than ever in the past year.. (daily) broke an axle shaft in the front, ran out of gas, installed driver side battery tray and 2nd optima, bought a Dana 60 and rebuilt it with all the good parts, took the flat bed off and installed the original step side long bed, removed the body lift and installed new cab mounts, built 2 of my bead lock wheels and mounted one tire (which took about an hour of bolt tightening), washed the mud from te truck for a good 5 hours, and refilled with power steering fluid 3 times! I have some pictures, I'll post when I'm to my computer

...adjusted the carb settings to increase idle speed a bit. Then drove it to Mexican for dinner and got a free car wash (it rained).
