Talking Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Went to get "Serious Black" aligned today, but the shops local to me can't fit my truck on thier alignment rack, all except one...have an appt. scheduled for Tuesday at 1:00 pm.
Boy did I have close call on my way back to the house, had someone making a left turn in the left turn lane just to the front of me, then they decided they wanted to go right and turned directly into my lane, no signal, nothing...
Almost crapped my pantsbut, I managed to dive over to the curb averting a disaster....man I have got to get my collector insurance done, soon!!!!!
Have a happy Father's Day everyone!!!

People are such idiots. I had a guy come up on me today while I was on the interstate. I'm in the slow lane, being the miserly gas saver I am, and he's not paying attention to my speed. I saw it all unfold in the rear view. He decides at the last moment to pass BUT there's a car there. He gestures with both his arms.....it amazingly has no effect on my speed. As soon as he can, he passes me on the left and then cuts across to the right two lanes to go south as the interstate splits.

Now why he couldn't get get into the split behind me is a mystery.

Glad you are OK.

Update on this, I drove the truck today and no leaks so far. Happy because I found out my alternator is not putting out : ( the joys of owning a old vehicle. Always something.
Fixed my door handle. One of the screws was kinda stripped so I drilled down the hole a little deeper and used a larger screw. Handle fits nice and tight now.

I learned the hard way to go on and preemptively fix everything before you hit the road than have one thing gone wrong as soon as you fix something else!

I am hitting the lower part of my offset air cleaner with Permatex.

I may also hit the top part with gloss black. I just don't think satin black looks right.

Refreshed my door handles. Not bad for being on the truck 45 years. I'm looking for a NOS LH to match the RH I've got, but I wouldn't be unsatisfied to use these.

Nuts were missing on door for trim panel. JB welded 2 in there. This stuff is great when you don't have a welder. Just need to sand it down. But it holds great.

Man I like that! I need to buy a few for my trucks and maybe a few extra to hand out as Christmas gifts. Never have too many cup holders!

Painted my headache rack and put my light bar and rear work lights back on. She's looking better every day!

Gave my mom a ride, hauled off some trash, took some playground equipment to the guy who sold me the bed & returned some parts to my buddy that "helped" (he did 95% of the work) picked up a power steering pump from him to get cleaned up so that I can get that on. Very nice ride.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

She enjoyed her trip, she has alzheimer's, so her thoughts on the truck are not like ours are, but she knows it belonged to my dad's dad, she liked how the seats felt, how she was able to see out of it (I guess how large the windows are?), and how it felt in the corners, her words were "it stays good", she was making a curve motion with her hands, I took that to mean that she was saying it felt good in the curves, but I'm not sure. She just likes getting out.

we stopped by my dad's brother's house, his eyes about come out of his head, he was almost in tears, he couldn't believe how good it run, especially since it really hasn't been on the road for about 15 years.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Fixed my previous post, removed years and put tears in.

Thanks, I'm not a very sentimental person, but this truck means a lot to me, and my family, it's the only truck my grandpa owned since I have been alive, he bought it new in 1970, I was born in 1975, it's very hard not to call it "grandpa's truck", I know it's mine, but somehow it just doesn't seem right to call it mine, even though I "bought" it from him while he was still living, I gave him $100 for it, basically so the other grandkids (about 40 of us) wouldn't say he gave me something and didn't give it to them. I've been posting on Facebook and they are excited about it also. When I first started, the most common response was "I wondered what happened to that thing". I could go on and on, but I'll stop there!

I'm very excited, and so far today I've made excuses to get in it and ride!

I'd like to tell everyone what I did today, but I am in desperate need of a '71 center drag link. Anyone know where I can find one or who has one available? I'll post some picks soon of my preped hood and grille shell.
