Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

Here is a little step by step of the front bolt on body drop parts ! First step i put my square on the bottom of the frame and came out 2 inches from the edge of the bolt hole and marked both sides. 2nd step cut them off

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

3rd step with my handy unibit i opened the holes on the frame up one hole size. 4th step slide in the center support bar and bolt the brackets in place

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

5th step is an extra one that i added, i shortened the front frame horns 1/2 inch just to tuck the bumper in a little closer, once again i used my square along the bottom edge and marked back 1/2 inch and cut it off. 6th step i held the front pieces of frame horn all the way touching the old frame and marked the holes with my trusty silver sharpie, took them over to the drill press and drilled them out

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

i wonder why nathan doesnt just makes the front longer and includes the bumpersupport , if he does it that way the cut on the frame doesnt HAVE to be straight to give a good result
to be honest i never even considered the bumper needing to be lowered

the bumper only needs lowered because i am putting on the Bolt on Body drop which has lower cab mounts also, that is why the bumper needs lowered

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

I'm curious, and may have missed it, but I thought the body was already sitting on the ground. Was there some small gap that you are closing? How do you protect the bottom of the sheet metal (the pretty part) if its able to drop all the way to the ground?

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

it needed 3/4 of an inch for the pinch weld to lay out, as far as messing up the paint i am sure there will be a little gap ?? i dont know we will see ?

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

Well guys i guess my truck is even more rare than i originally thought...i thought a SWB big back glass was pretty rare , but now i have something to add to that !! This truck has been in my family for over 30 years , it has only had one paint job other than the factory one.....The factory vin tag has never been removed still has the rosette rivets in it, the vin # is stamped on the frame in at least 2 places maybe more....ORIGINAL TRUCK !! So the story is when i got my cab mounts from Porterbuilt the cab mount holes didnt line up???? i thought what in the world ? so i called Nathan and he confirmed that the frame in my truck is a GMC frame !! the vin is a chevy vin matching the vin plate but the frame is GMC and with the GMC frame is slightly different cab mounts !! Who would have ever guessed that ??? Nathan is taking measurements and building some GMC cab mounts for my Chevy truck !! WOW ! Why in the world would GM make 2 different cab mounts ! Thank you PORTERBUILT for GREAT customer service !
