Re: '62 GMC BurbMaster "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....

I used the existing top bolt hole loactions, and drilled the two outers for the wedge cuts ...

Weld nuts on underside.

Final grind/sand will come later before Powder ...

Thanks man !!

Next up was the additional tranny cooler off of the Roadmaster ... might as well use it. Bypassing the radiator all together, and running a large cooler in front is the preferred way, but my tranny temps in the burban should be marginal.

I will be towing with it, but nothing more than 5000 lbs or so.
-
-
-
First step was mounting of the cooler. I didn't get pics of that, but basically I just reshaped the aluminum brackets to fit the core. Looks like it was made for it ...

Rather than run rubber hose (that would be toooo easy), hardline is the answer !

To me, its more like art ...

Second line in. This one received just a bubble flare on the lower end, as it will slip into the existing 3/8" rubber line ...

Thanks guys ... It does take time and patience.

I try not to waste any tube in my bends.

Re: '62 GMC BurbMaster "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....

The Engine Oil cooler was next. The stock lines did reach, but were slacked tight ... so I wanted it a little more cleaner. New hardlines, some push-loc fittings, and we were good ...

Very nice work Chief.....especially on the tube bending. What brand of tube bender are you using? Do you like it? I need to get a better one.

I have two ...

I use a larger Matco one, and just picked up a smaller, Blue Point one for a little tighter bends on smaller tube.

I will post pics and prt numbers

Re: '62 GMC BurbMaster "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....

I wanted to switch it up a bit, and move to the back of the Burban, and start the mock up of the rear floor crossmembers and fuel tank.

Since I have extra crossmembers, I decided to add an extra one to the rear floor area behind the axle, to support the wood floor, the fuel tank and eventually the rear most seat ....

Re: '62 GMC BurbMaster "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....

The "extra" crossmember was added by using these nut inserts (left over from some Aluminum truck box installs ... I save everything ) This allowed me to place the crossmember in a different spot other than the factory holes.

Next was to check the fuel tank fit. Again, this plastic tank is from the Roadmaster, and has the built in fuel pump ...

The tank needs to sit as high as possible ... so a little trimming of the front crossmeber will give me 2"... which is better than nothing

Hey Captain ... I sure do.

Yes, the past year has been quite a wild ride.

I am now sweeping up the dust that settled a couple of months ago, and filling the whole I was in !!

To bring this back up to date, I found some old pics on my PC from when I left off ... I must of been bored here:
