I stripped a 2004 GMC Savana 2500. 4.8l with a 4l85E, the entire wiring harness, fule pump, steering column and dash cluster swapped into my 68 shortbed fleetside.

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!
Got some time in on this swap. Thought I'd share.
It works out that if you cut the middle out of the factory 4x4 crossmember an LS drops right in. In fact, 1 bolt hole in the stock motor mount lines up with 1 of the LS motor mount bolt holes. |

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!
Doug Thorley headers fit great and don't hang below the frame. The only thing they hit was on the left side. At the farthest out side point it hit the edge of where the TC inspection cover bolts. I cut about 1/4" "knob" off that doesn't affect anything, and it fit.

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!
Had to make the lower crossmember. I used 1" x .120 DOM and the outer pieces of the original crossmember. Fits great and clears the trans cooler lines.

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!
You might want to use the open LS forum to get your answers to your questions. Everything you will need to know can be answered by the guy's on there. They walked me through my 5.3 in my S10.

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!
I went to the junkyard and hacksawed the tv lever arm off of a carburetor from a truck or car cant remeber that had a 700r. I also cut off the bracket that holds the cable and welded it to the bottom of the 5.3 throttle bracket. Before I cut anything at the junkyard I measured the radius and the angle for the TV lever and matched the dimensions before i welded it to the 5.3 throttle body. Probably not the most ideal setup out there but it works.

Yea, its vintage air,at the time it was the least exp. billet style drive syst. available. The one dissapointing thing is the water pump pulley keeps fading from black to a brown color, they warranteed the first one but its happened again.I figure when I get some time I'll send it to my own anodizer & let him take a crack at it.Other than that issue its nice

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!
Every anodized part I've seen fades if it gets a lot of UV exposure. Some parts take longer than others, but it happens to all of them.

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!
Installed a Modified 3/8" hose barb in my factory rad for the steam port. Just brazed it on like you would do with copper pipe. Then hit it with black spray paint for giggles. I still need to clean it up and repaint it before it goes on.
Cost a total of $2.79 from lowes and about 20 minutes of work. I like this better than the Jags That Run adaptor.

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!
Yep, I know about that, Just didn't want to do it. Same amount of work and same amount of money. This also allows for the steam port line to be as close to the highest point in the system as possible.
